United States of Japan is an upcoming novel that the author says is a “spiritual successor” to Philip K. Dick’s classic The Man In The High Castle. Only, instead of the Japanese and Germans sharing the US in the 1960s, Japan is the sole oppressor, and they’re lording it over America with an army of giant mechs.
I’m posting this here in Fine Art because to accompany the novel, author Peter Tieryas got John Liberto — one of the best game artists in the business — to provide some illustrations, including the cover shot. And I thought they were badarse enough to share here.
Fine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists, showcasing the best of both their professional and personal portfolios.

I can see an awesome anime spawning from this
Wouldn’t it have to be from an American perspective, demonizing the Japanese oppressors? I doubt a Japanese company would want that, they like demonizing America instead.
I suppose it could be a morally conflicted Japanese Mech pilot sympathizing with the Americans, meets a resistant group, finds sects within the Japanese military and starts a revolt.
Looks like a mix of Evangalieon and Pacific Rim, still looks cool though.
My like button doesnt work but,
+1, my exact thoughts!
the pilot will lose points for every vehicle he steps on.
I love this kind of stuff. Probably from the fact that I loved to play Mechwarrior and Heavy Gear.
