Five Steam Games You Should Play, In Screenshots

This holiday season, I received the most precious gift of all: a bit of free time. I ended up using it mostly to play an ungodly amount of Fallout 4 (it’s alright), but also to check out a handful of Steam games from last year that I never quite got around to.

While I haven’t played any of them enough to do a full review-type post, I feel pretty safe in recommending them. So, without further ado, here’s a (largely visual) primer as to why you should check out these semi-obscure Steam games.

Jotun

Because it’s an action game that’s incredible at making you feel small.

Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist

Because it’s absolutely not what you’re expecting it to be (unless maybe you played The Stanley Parable… but even then).

Read Only Memories

Because it’s a cyberpunk adventure that does what cyberpunk does best: tackles modern social issues through a slightly fantastical lens. Also, it’s damn cute — a rarity in a typically cold, dystopic branch of sci-fi.

(Disclosure: a few of the people who helped make ROM are friends of mine. I feel a little bad that it took me this long to get around to playing their game. I’m so bad at collusion.)

Underrail

Because it’s basically a new old-school Fallout, hyper-complicated stat-based character creation and all. (Note: it’s probably not in any way related to Undertale. Probably.)

Dropsy

Because it’s an adventure about one of those clowns that gives you nightmares, only this one teaches you to feel love and heartbreak and other surprisingly impassioned clown emotions.
