Given how insanely popular they were before Christmas, it was only a matter of time before Target turned to their eBay store and offered another 20% off storewide sale.
Thing is, now we’ve got one. And the good news: it applies to games and consoles.
Here’s How It Works In Case You Missed It Last Time
Unlike the mammoth sale that everyone went crazy for in October, you’ll only get a 20% discount at checkout.
To do so, you’ll need to use the code CTARGET at checkout. But there’s a catch: the maximum discount per transaction is capped at $500, and you can only make 3 transactions (although each transaction can have multiple items) over the course of the sale. Postage isn’t included either, although you get free home delivery with any transaction over $39.
Just to make sure people aren’t confused, here’s the terms and conditions. I’ve included the bits worth focusing on, but if you want to read through the full list you can do so here.
This offer commences at 10.00am (AEDT) on 15 February 2016 and ends at 23.59pm (AEDT) on 21 February 2016 (Offer Period).
The offer entitles you to a 20% discount off the purchase price for up to 3 transactions (excluding postage) at the Target store on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period, up to a maximum discount of $500 per transaction.
Only 3 transactions per person during the Offer Period.
The total discount is capped at $500 per transaction.
Multiple items may be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).
The redemption code requires payment with an Australian PayPal account in order to take effect.
To redeem this offer during the Offer Period, enter the redemption code CTARGET into the redemption code box during the checkout process. You must be an eBay.com.au registered member.
For those who took part — or wanted to — in the October event, it’s basically the same deal but with a smaller cap. So with that out of the way, let’s start with the consoles first. For the games, click on the header to view the full list.
Note: all prices listed are what they will cost with the 20% discount applied. The code is applied at checkout, so if you combine consoles or games with different prices and then apply the code the end result could be slightly different. Double check before buying.
Consoles
1TB Xbox One Console plus Rare Replay, Ori and the Blind Forest and Gears of War Ultimate Edition ($399.20)
Wii U Premium Mario Maker Console ($343.20)
Wii U Premium Console + Mario 8 Pack ($343.20)
1TB Xbox One Console with Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider (2013) ($423.30)
1TB PS4 with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection ($439.20)
Nintendo 3DS XL Black (blue also available) ($198.40)
The offers here aren’t as cracking as what we saw pre-Christmas, but for those that weren’t able to pick up a console there are some nice offerings. Those who got a PS4 early on and are now considering an Xbox One can do well with the Rare Replay bundle.
Xbox One Games
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited ($12.80)
The LEGO Movie Videogame ($31.20)
Life Is Strange ($39.20)
Star Wars: Battlefront ($47.20)
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate ($47.20)
FIFA 16 ($47.20)
Rainbow Six: Siege ($47.20)
Need for Speed ($47.20)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ($55.20)
Xbox One Wireless Controller ($55.20)
Fallout 4 ($55.20)
Destiny: The Taken King ($55.20)
Oh look, Fallout 4 for consoles is on sale again. And that deal on a wireless controller isn’t half bad either.
As for games, now might be a good time to pick up Syndicate if you were hovering on the fence. I’m actually quite partial to Need for Speed as well, but that’s because I’m still holding onto the glory days of the Underground games. (The new one isn’t anywhere near as good as those, but it’s fun. And the cut scenes are hilariously stupid.)
PS4 Games
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited ($12.80)
Tearaway Unfolded ($19.20)
LittleBigPlanet 3 ($19.20)
Terraria ($31.20)
The LEGO Movie Videogame ($31.20)
LEGO: The Hobbit ($31.20)
The Crew ($39.20)
Life Is Strange ($39.20)
FIFA 16 ($47.20)
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate ($47.20)
Rainbow Six: Siege ($47.20)
Need for Speed ($47.20)
Minecraft Story Mode ($55.20)
Fallout 4 ($55.20)
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 ($55.20)
Destiny: The Taken King ($55.20)
Did you see the Xbox One offers and think, “Gee, I wonder if they have that available for PS4?” Well, they do. Just about all of them, in fact. Except for the first-party exclusives, which aren’t that great of a discount. But you can click the header above (note that it’ll bring up PS3 games as well) and have a poke for yourself.
Nintendo
Yo-Kai Watch 3DS ($44)
Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes ($44)
Pokemon Omega Ruby ($44)
Pokemon Alpha Sapphire ($44)
Mario Party 10 ($51.20)
Mario Kart 7 3DS ($52)
Splatoon ($55.20)
Mario Kart 8 ($55.20)
Super Smash Bros Wii U ($55.20)
Yoshi’s Woolly World Wii U ($55.20)
Super Mario Maker ($63.20)
Solid, but not spectacular. All of the Wii U games are worth it at that price point though, with the exception of Mario Party 10 (because Mario Party really, really isn’t everyone’s kind of game).
So that’s it for Target’s latest sale. Remember, you can only have three transactions and the maximum discount is $500. Don’t confuse that with the maximum you can spend! And if you’re looking for a discount on accessories, the Sony controllers, cables and what not can be found here. Those after deals on Xbox toys, like the 360 R2D2 controller or the XBO Star Wars pad, can go to this link.
What games are you waiting to go on sale — or are you more interested in what 2016 has to offer?

And the cut scenes are hilariously stupid
I never knew fistbumping was a thing in underground car racing scenes, but clearly the Need For Speed people think it is…
Cmon Kotaku, surely you guys like nerf guns too?
$12.80 for ESO?! I just played $16!!!
I’ll live.
Tempted in getting a XB1 but I’ll think I’ll wait for EB’s Mad Monday Sale at the end of this year as they had a great offer last year which I missed out on.
I’ve got a big enough pile of shame to keep me busy til then.
Is it Nintendo Australia or the retailer itself maintaining those prices?
I’m not outright saying any game or machine listed is overly expensive or even too cheap (I buy games predominately from the eshop and they are all full price 99% of the time) but there’s a discrepancy when newer fare like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is cheaper than Mario Kart 7 on 3DS.
That’s a really great question. I’ll try and find out.
You complete me, Alex.
Have wanted to know this for ages!
I’ll bet you real money that it’s Nintendo Australia
And I’ll bet you real money that the order comes from Kyoto. Nintendo has this thing about lowering prices meaning that the products are worthless. They’d rather manufacture limited quantities and keep prices high than overproduce and sell at a loss. In the book Console Wars there was a fascinating bit about Nintendo refusing to supply some major US chain or other unless they agreed not to discount and not to return excess stock. Nintendo’s view is that the quality of the product does the market penetration, not the price. Very frustrating for me since I’d be all over a Wii U except for the insanity of the RRP being $429.
Pretty sure most of these prices come from the publishers. I remember a friend working for one of the big retailers telling me that he signed a cheque for so-and-so many hundreds of thousands of dollars or something along those lines, when they would drop the price on games and have to refund the retailers for all the stock they still had. Which isn’t to say that the prices won’t drop when a retailer decides to drop the price themselves just to try clear the shelves.
I don’t really get what the big deal is though. I mean back in the day, games didn’t really drop in price as hard as they do in more recent years did they? And it’s not like if you buy a game (well, non-multiplayer focused at least) a year or two after it came out that it’s going to have somehow reached an expiry date where it’s become unplayable. Fair enough if someone wants to dig their heels in and not follow the trend of everyone else.
Am loving NFS, is the closest to the old underground’s I’ve found to be honest. Car handling is a bit stiff, but I’m enjoying it a lot more then I expected.
Regarding these deals…. have too many games as it is… but then as I’m known to do… will probably pick one or two up anyways. Syndicate in particular is looking very tempting
Have you also found something weird in the new NFS where the cars sometimes don’t respond to you wanting to turn or change directions?
Ugh… yes, yes I have. I thought it was my controller playing up lol Doesn’t seem to happen often, but just often enough to cause me to rage quit. Thanks for that, at least I know its not my controller!
Forget games and consoles, 20% off Lego is where it’s at. My computer room is fast becoming the Lego room.
Holy crap now THAT is the kind of special I’m waiting to hear about!!!
Preach!

get yer 20% off whilst it lasts.
Mario party 10 is awful. I bought it, played it for 5 minutes and took it back.
Trash.
Also
Dippa.
It’s been a while since a wild Dippa appeared in the comments.
Sums up the whole sale I think. I’ve moved to a place in my life where I find myself questioning whether I ever should have to pay over $35 for a video game. The winners(?) here are those on the hunt for a console, but I’m sure there’ll be better bundles as the year ticks over.
Unless hunting for a Wii U because even with 20% off RRP it’s still bloody expensive compared to PS4 and Xbone deals you can get.
Prices are notably higher than at Xmas. The ps3 and 360 stuff is 15-20 dollars more expensive.
Time to pick up a new 3ds xl, I just hope there isn’t a new one soon
Apparently the NX is releasing at the end of this year. All reports are that it involves both handheld and console integration of some sort.
For anyone that’s a bit disappointed with the game selection, ozgameshop currently have a 10% off offer going, but it ends tonight so you’ll need to be quick.
