Gears Of War 4 Multiplayer Beta Begins On April 18th (For Some Players)

Gears of War fans are set to get a taste of a new era of Gears multiplayer when the beta opens this April on Xbox One. For a game series that has built a strong community around its multiplayer, and is currently in the process of growing its eSports footprint, the two week beta is an important step in development of the first game from The Coalition Studio.

Early access to the beta will begin on April 18th for anyone who’s played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 (though the beta is only playable on Xbox One), while the open beta will follow on April 25th for anyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership. The beta will end on May 1, so if you want to get in on the full two weeks of multiplayer goodness, you’ll have to play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition by 11pm PDT, April 11 (4pm April 12, AEST). Codes will be sent out from April 18 and will be distributed through the Xbox Live messaging system, so keep an eye out.

The open beta will begin on April 25, directly after PAX East where The Coalition has promised to reveal an all new competitive game mode for Gears of War 4.

While there have been rumors of Gears of War 4 getting a PC release, the beta is only available on Xbox One. Sorry, PC gamers.
