Today at GDC, independent developer Obsidian announced Tyranny, a brand new isometric role-playing game coming later this year for PC, Mac and Linux. It will be published by Paradox, who also helped get Pillars of Eternity out the door.
Details are scarce, but Obsidian says the game is set in a world where there was a grand struggle between good and evil — until evil won. “A nonlinear story challenges players to find their role within the dominant empire and live with the outcomes of difficult, morally unclear decisions,” the company said in a press release.
The game looks lovely. More screenshots here:

Nice to see a return of these old school RPG’s; got to keep an eye on this one 🙂
Pretty!
But gah! I haven’t finished the last 2 that I bought
Looks good. Hopefully they make some improvements to the combat from Pillars too.
I wouldn’t mind them putting in the elemental effects from divinity original sin. Had heaps of fun playing around with that
Yeah, I really enjoyed the combat in Divinity. Just felt right.
Oh HELL YES! Totally on board with this!
Honestly, as much as I love Pillars, I am kinda glad it’s a new game instead of Pillars 2. These guys are experts at creating some serious deep lore – seeing them stretch their muscles on something new is so great.
