Our Favourite Games From February

Our Favourite Games From February

February’s the shortest month of the year. Does that affect our recommendations for February? Not sure but, as a matter of fact, we are down to 18 games this month. Those 18 are pretty good, though. Take a look:

Adventures of Mana

A great (if pricy) mobile remake of 1991’s Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy.

You can buy the game for Android and iOS.

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend

What do you get when Omega Force decides to make a game based on a lesser-known anime series? A pretty good Dynasty Warriors game.

You can buy the game for PS4 and Xbox One.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc PC

Clue meets Battle Royale meets Persona meets Zero Escape meets Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is as good on PC as it was on Vita, even if it’s a barebones port.

You can buy the game for PC.

Devil Daggers

The old-school FPS experience distilled down into a single-room map, filled with terrifying enemies. Each session is a wild (but short) ride.

You can buy the game for PC.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

A simplistic RPG on the surface, but potentially highly satisfying depending on how much of a Digimon fan you are.

You can buy the game for PS4 and PS Vita.

Dying Light: The Following

The Following is basically more Dying Light, but improved and refined. The definite version of a great zombie game.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Far Cry Primal

It’s the same open-world without guns or grenades, but with animal companions, village building and mammoths. There’s a deep and satisfying experience to be had… if you’re ready for more Far Cry.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Firewatch

A beautiful adventure game with outstanding voice acting, and an awesome screenshot mode to boot. Also an excellent source of desktop wallpapers.

You can buy the game for PC and PS4.

Gravity Rush Remastered

The definitive version of the classic open-world Vita adventure. Make sure to check out our gameplay tips if you pick it up.

You can buy the game for PS4.

Project X Zone 2

By itself, Project X Zone 2 would be an OK tactical game. But its premise — characters from wildly different games coming together and interacting — elevates it.

You can buy the game for 3DS.

Stardew Valley

All you folks who have been clamouring for a Harvest Moon-type game on PC: this is your lucky day. It’s like Harvest Moon, with a bit of Rune Factory thrown in, and it’s good.

You can buy the game for PC.

Street Fighter V

An excellent foundation for a fighting game. What’s there is good, it’s just there isn’t too much of it. In any case, before you get into Street Fighter V, you should definitely investigate its launch issues.

You can buy the game for PC and PS4.

Superhot

An innovative shooter where time moves as you move. The $US25 ($35) price tag might be a turn off, especially on a sub-5-hour game, but in return you get a very focused and pure experience.

You can buy the game for PC.

The Solus Project

A survival game that actually legit isn’t like other survival games. It’s also an adventure game set in space, and very pretty to boot.

You can buy the game for PC. Note that it’s in Early Access.

The Walking Dead: Michonne

Michonne is one of the most intriguing characters in the Walking Dead franchise, and this miniseries give her some much-needed development.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Unravel

A lovely platformer starring Yarny, a sentient piece of yarn. It’s excellent when it’s not driving you up to wall with its controls.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

XCOM 2

A brilliant turn-based tactics game that improves on its predecessor in every way. Beware of performance issues, though. Also, check out our gameplay tips and our mod recommendations.

You can buy the game for PC.
