When Ratchet Met Clank . . . Again

When Ratchet Met Clank . . . Again

The first meeting between the Lombax mechanic and defective Warbot is much more dramatic in the Ratchet & Clank movie than it was in the game. It had to be, really.

As much as I love the PlayStation 2 classic, the coming together of its titular heroes wasn’t exactly a momentous occasion. It’s was pretty much Ratchet picking up some trash and then peacing out.

Then original seen could have used a little dramatic tension. Maybe some swinging, and an explosion. Ooo, a comedic headbutt. Who doesn’t love a comedic headbutt? Let’s see how the animated movie does it.

I like it! It differs greatly from the original events, but still manages to stick to the spirit of the material.

Then again I am willing to give the Ratchet & Clank movie a lot of slack for resisting the temptation to cast big name stars in the title roles. Ratchet is James Arnold Taylor, voice of Lombax in every game except the first. Clank is and always has been David Kaye, who has been one of my favourite voice actor since he talked to the robotic T-Rex hand as Megatron in the Transformers Beast Wars series.

As long as those two are talking they can have Ratchet meet Clank via Tinder for all I care.

The Ratchet & Clank movie hits theatres April 29. The Ratchet & Clank movie-based reboot hits PlayStation 4 on April 12.
