In a somewhat unexpected move, Yokai Watch characters are coming to Final Fantasy XIV in a future update.
According to Famitsu, further details are to come, but footage released today at a Nico Nico event outside Tokyo show popular Yokai Watch characters like Jibanyan, Komasan and Whisper.

Looks like they will be mounts (top image) or themed weapons.

This isn’t just a one way deal, because Final Fantasy critters, such as Chocobo and Moogle are coming to Yokai Watch 3, which will be out this June in Japan.
