Smite Begins Mac OS X Open Beta

With Windows, Xbox One and more recently, the PS4 conquered, Smite developer Hi-Rez Studios has its eyes set on another platform — Mac OS X. Yesterday the company started open beta testing on the new port via Steam.

If you’re a Mac gamer keen on giving the MOBA a whirl, getting it installed is easy, according to the dedicated FAQ from Hi-Rez:

How do I install SMITE on my Mac?

  1. Head over to www.smitegame.com
  2. On the homepage, click “DOWNLOAD Play Free”
  3. Click “Mac Beta” where you’ll be directed to the STEAM website
  4. Click the green “Play Game” button

**Follow the Steam install prompt. If you do not have Steam installed on your Mac, install at this time and SMITE will automatically download**

The FAQ goes on to mention that the PC and Mac player bases are the same, so there’s no need to worry about not having anyone to play with. Though you may encounter issues with the Steam overlay, which may require tweaking some security settings from within OS X.
