Those Overwatch characters didn’t just animate themselves. Someone had to get in there and make them move, and Blizzard’s David Gibson is one of those responsible.
We featured some of Gibson’s stuff a little while ago, when he shed some light on the technical side of making the game look so buttery-smooth. Today, though, we’re looking at his portfolio of work from the game, which covered three main areas: the ground-up creation of Mei, play of the game animations and some loot box stuff.
You can see more of David’s work at his Vimeo page and the site of a game he’s working on called Line.

What would we do without SFM? valve really did look after us 😀
He really is one of the best animators out there.
Just incredible.
Here I was thinking there would be an in depth look at the animation in Overwatch, techniques used, software etc etc… this was quite disappointing in comparison.
