In the wake of that BATSHIT season finale of Game of Thrones, join me and Kirk for a bonus episode of Kotaku Splitscreen to talk about what just happened.
Spoilers, obviously.
You can listen to the episode on iTunes, or on Simplecast right here. (Download the MP3 directly here.)
Also, consider this a good place for talking about that episode.
Things to discuss:
- Consolidation! Resolutions! Actual story momentum!
- WILDFIRE.
- Who else got goosebumps at “promise me, Ned”?
- Also was that wet nurse Wylla in the Tower of Joy with Lyanna?
- Margaery 🙁
- Daenerys is totally gonna die in a storm on the way to Westeros, right?
- Olenna + Varys + Tyrion are going to be unstoppable.
- If the Wall really has runes that ward off the dead, how can the White Walkers get past it? In other words, are we going to see that Wall collapse next year? (Yes.)

– I’m really curious about what Jon’s real name is as per Lyanna-“His name is…*inaudible whisper*”.. I used to think it was Aegon but then that’s Rhaegar’s son from his other wife.
– About the white walkers getting past the wall… I have a feeling it will be Bran’s fault, just as he indirectly (through the Night King’s mark) brought down the magic ward on the ancient weirwood tree hideout, the moment he steps on the wall, he’ll probably bring down the magical protection too.
– I’m really keen on seeing two different Sarah Connors duke it out next season… Chronicles vs Genisys, but everyone knows who wins that franchise, easy.
……I didn’t realise that until just now.
Holy shit neither did I…. wow. Except in this case, whoever wins… we win!
For a show called Tits and Dragons it was pretty light on the Tits and Dragons.
Jon’s death was meaningless. Literally no character development at all.
Rebel hero stuff like this really loses its edge when you realise comments are moderated and there’s an ever-watching silent hand hovering each article’s conversations.
Kind of like your mother letting you out to play with the other kids on a sunny day and hoping she didn’t notice your baseball cap was on back to front so you can look cool. But she did.
Got a legit out loud laugh out of that. lol. If I could upvote that 5 times I would.

So, when smirking Cersei explodes all of her enemies and joyfully tortures the nun in order to save her son is the same as bitter Cersei finding out she had caused her son’s death and ordering his body burned and ashes scattered before she takes the throne?
Would you say Sansa’s character has developed from victim to jaded, fatalist who lost faith in others and learned mistrust?
Where can I watch tits and dragons?
Jons death was the only way he could leave the nights watch. He would still be at the wall otherwise…
Apparently there’s only 16 episodes to go now… season 7 supposedly 16 episodes long and being broken up into 2 mini ‘seasons’. Shit I hope not… I hope we get 2 seasons of 10 episodes…
but the word is each episode will be extra long, just like the finale, so it kinda balances out!
True that. Hope damn well so!
Just remember people…
WILDFIRE CAN’T MELT CONCRETE COLUMNS! KINGS LANDING WAS A LIE!!!!!!
Explosive force can sure break concrete however!

For this I see two options, Bran either causes the fall somehow, or because Qyburn is meddling in forbidden stuff, he’s created an undead beyond the wall already which has weakened the protection on the wall. Or, because there is no Stark in winterfell it also weakens the spells.
Olenna + Varys + Tyrion are going to be unstoppable.
Unstoppable in the quip and sass department for sure 🙂
There’s at least one Stark in Winterfell for the moment…
It looked like Jaime Lannister was not impressed, wonder if this will be the final straw for him.
