Anarcute Is A (Very Cute) Game About Rioting

New Steam release Anarcute is a game about smashing up cities and putting the boot into a dystopian future security force. It is Katamari Damacy vs Jet Set Radio, only with violence, and it’s one of the nicest surprises I’ve played this year.

The game is about controlling an ever-growing swarm of rioters, who are tasked with doing things like securing parts of the city, freeing fellow rioters imprisoned by the man, taking out bad guys and just generally smashing the place up.

It doesn’t look like much, but it’s fun as hell. And it looks great too, from the teeth-aching cuteness of the rioters to the way the cities look like both LEGO towns and the real thing they’re based on at the same time.

You can see me playing through some of the opening levels below if you want to take a look.
