Call Of Duty Robots Doesn’t Look As Fun As Call Of Duty In Space

Part of the reason why I’m so excited for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the space element. It’s doing the thing that the best Call of Duty singleplayer campaigns do — that is be Call of Duty, but with a bit of a twist.

This new Call of Duty mission? Not so much.

Activision published footage of the “Black Sky” mission earlier this morning, and it’s the kind of gameplay that Call of Duty fans will know and love: running from cover to cover, occasionally getting ambushed by a quicktime event, and shooting a bunch of Bastion-esque robots along the way.

It says a lot that the most engaging element of Black Sky is when the player takes off into outer space. That seems like it’s shaping up to be a bit of a problem: how do you make ground warfare as interesting as space, without having to treat the on-foot action as a diversion?

We’ll find out soon.
