One of Metal Gear Solid V’s most important plot points, Mission 51, ended up on the cutting room floor. Yesterday, Konami said it does not plan to finish this mission.
As Kotaku reported last year, footage of a deleted mission, made up of concept art, narration and half-finished cut-scenes, appeared in the game’s previously released Collector’s Edition. These unseen leftovers do give closure to some of the characters.

Now that Konami is releasing ]Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, fans have been wondering how this could be the definitive version if it’s missing this important mission.
On Twitter (via VideoGamer), here’s the official Metal Gear account responding to these questions:
@Spindash54 @Konami the ending isn’t and never has been missing, but this is a prequel game to Metal Gear (released 1987)

@Kaz_TheFiddler @Spindash54 @Konami the ending is found in the missions within. Many threads continue in Metal Gear and subsequent games

@Kaz_TheFiddler @Spindash54 @Konami this was a bonus gift to CE buyers showing behind-the-scenes content in early development
— METAL GEAR OFFICIAL (@metalgear_en) August 30, 2016
@kevinhuiskamp @Konami because it’s already finished and released last year Sep 1
— METAL GEAR OFFICIAL (@metalgear_en) August 30, 2016
@Spindash54 @Konami Mission 51 is additional story content that was cancelled before development finished, but its definitely not the ending
— METAL GEAR OFFICIAL (@metalgear_en) August 30, 2016
@Kaz_TheFiddler @Spindash54 @Konami all story content contains plot points. However 51 was additional, initial release planned to end at 50

@nobeardbailey @chun_jung_hsu @Spindash54 @Konami there are no plans we can speak to

That is one fed up community manager.
I almost feel sorry for this poor person. Being Konami’s community and/or PR manager has to be one of the toughest gigs in gaming.

Meanwhile at Millennials of New York
I’d be amazed if Konami bothered to go back and do it, but I’d be even more amazed if A) their Twitter guy was kept in the loop on such plans and B) they announced it on Twitter in response to trolling.
I’d be amazed if Konami managed to ever be not completely shit about something ever again, but I’m not holding my breath.
“In my restless dreams, I see that game, Silent Hills. You promised me you’d give me a new game again someday… But you never did”.
Fuck Konami…
Would be brilliant if they did finish that loop. Be more amazing if they redid or at least rereleased the other MGS’s onto current gen platforms\PC though.
After the calamity that was the SIlent Hill HD releases…. I would doubt it would be.
Why would they change their plans from last year?

At least they’re being firm about it. Much better than saying, “Sure… someday,” for a decade. (Lookin’ at you, Valve.)
“Eh you people already hate us, so why bother.”
It’d be stupid of them to make it without Kojima. But they could at least include the DVD or have it feature as an extra in the game so I don’t have to YouTube that stuff anymore
