The New Power Rangers Game Sure Looks Like It’s From The ’90s

Fans of the rainbow rangers have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Mega Battle since the name was leaked earlier this year. Well here it is, and it’s exactly the sort of game we’d have been playing when the show first launched.

Arriving digitally for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January, MMPR:MB (phew) is an old school beat-em up in the same vein as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, or TMNT:TIT. Players choose their favourite Pink Ranger (or the others are fine, I guess) and level them up through side-scrolling adventures set in the first two seasons of the show. Playing local co-op with friends allows players to pull off special combo manoeuvres. Playing alone allows you to eat an entire plate of pizza rolls without judgement.

It’s not exactly what I was expecting (fingers still crossed for a Power Rangers Musou game), but it has the themes, the sounds, the voice clips and just about everything else that made me watch television in my early 20s instead of going outside to find my own adventures.
