While I’ve been putting more hours into Destiny over the week, I’ve also started looking into the neat indie MOBA that is Battlerite.
If you’ve been following esports for a long time, it’s hard not to have a soft spot for Bloodline Champions. It was a game that was well before its time, something that knew the MOBA wave was coming well before Dota, League of Legends and just about every other developer did.
But it never really got big. Some of those creators are having another crack at the genre, however, with Battlerite. Heather checked it out briefly a little while ago, and came away with a pretty good impression.
Which is the same one I got last night, about two hours after dropping $US20. There’s Australian servers, rounds only take 2 and a half minutes at the most (maybe 3 if sudden death goes for a really long time, and there’s none of the frustration associated with snowballing that you get from a traditional MOBA.
The camera being attached to mouse movement is a little unusual at first, but it doesn’t take too long to get used to. I think I’d prefer a fixed view, but I’ll investigate that later today.
Another thing I’m keen to check out if I can get hands on: the Call of Duty Infinite Warfare beta. I know it’s popular to shit on Call of Duty in certain gaming circles, but I’ve always enjoyed and appreciated the formula. And having classic Modern Warfare 2 maps — at least that was what being shown at EB Expo — is a huge plus for me, since that was one of my favourites from the franchise (next to the original Modern Warfare and the first Black Ops).
Also, I haven’t forgotten! I’ll join the TAYbie Destiny clan later this week. I rarely log into the Bungie site, that’s all.
What are you playing this weekend?

Draggin’ ?uest 7
Gonna be playing around with some PSVR stuff.
Also Mafia 3 and Gears of War 4! WOO!
Myself, I’ve always noticed it’s popular to say “I know it’s popular to hate on Call of Duty but actually it’s really good”.
I’m reading that there’s no way to get the IW beta without pre-ordering first, right?
Last week they let us play Call of Duty Black Ops 3 free for a weekend on Steam. If that’s not like awarding 101 year old Mrs Sullivan a life-time membership at the golf club then I don’t know what is.
I’m maybe going to grab Paper Mario, should I?
Probably nothing but I will be trying to finish off watching my SGDQ backlog. I enjoy watching people break those games in ways the devs never envisioned.
And the movement tech in some games is just gorgeous to watch. The Dustforce DX run is a stand out.
Chrono Trigger ….20 years later 🙂
Finishing off Deus Ex Human Revolution Director’s Cut on PS3.
More module grinding on Hatsune Miku Project Diva X on Vita. I’ve been playing Urotander Rangers about twenty times in a row so far.
I definitely won’t be playing Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni.
Maybe some Overwatch Halloween loot box grinding as well.
More Overwatch and slamming my head against the loot boxes. Gotta get that Junkenstein skin!
I like how people say it’s a great thing you can buy the skins for coins. It’s a step up from not being able to at all, but at 3x the normal price, and no reliable way to get coins especially since they added 100+ things to the drop table, it doesn’t mean much. It’s as luck based as getting the drop you want straight from the box.

Gonna plug away at that Final Fantasy V too.
I haven’t had any time to sink into Forza Horizon 3 this week so I’ll be trying to do that. Otherwise, my same empty promise to myself I’ll finally finish some of my PC adventure games like Blackwell, Gemini Rue, replays of the Star Trek 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites, etc.
What do you think of FH3? Worth buying an Xbox for?
Just beef up your PC dude. Better long-term investment before all the consoles drop in price next year post-Scorpio announcement.
I wouldn’t buy a console for one game unless you’re already on the edge or have a lot of money (though I did once buy a PS3 solely for Silent Hill Homecoming which later went multiplatform anyway – because I’m an idiot) but it’s a very good and enjoyable game. Looks great, plays really well, and the console version seems to have far fewer issues than I’ve seen reported with the PC version.
That said, if you’re predominantly a PC gamer you could upgrade your PC as BJ suggested (assuming an upgrade is necessary), buy it digitally, and still own the digital version of FH3 to play on your Xbox One if you get one later (and assuming you’re still even interested in playing FH3 however far in the future that is).
Shadow Warrior 2 and maybe MGS V.
World of Warcraft….At some point I’ll remember other games exist.
Addiction is real.
Gears of War 4 & finally getting started on Uncharted 4.
Foiling Dr. Junkenstein’s Revenge!
Skylanders! At some point I’ll stop jazzing around with the character creator and actually PLAY. Then unlock more loot/creation options and just jazz around with that some more :/.
The little bit I did play with Air Strike was pretty great tho. Who needs custom characters when you have a character who sicks his bird on enemies?
Destiny, Mafia 3, and playing around with some PSVR games. Picked up Thumper and Rush of Blood…
Legion is where it’s at for me. More world quests and my Mrs has recently started dipping her toe into dungeons for the first time, so we’ll probably do some timewalking dungeons.
New Hitman Elusive Contract drops tonight around 10pm so I’ll probably do a dry run on PS4 tonight, then have a proper crack over the weekend. Such a great game, love the episodic release, I’m hoping that my mastery of Marrakech is good enough – it’s a tough level.
No idea maybe finish the last mission in Valkyria Chronicles remastered of finish off Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I kind of want something like Mafia 3. Haven’t played anything like it since GTA.
Taking a break from frustrating RNG and bugs in XCOM 2 with some chillin’ and buildin’ in Dragon Quest Builders.
Enemy Zero, Gale Racer (Rad Mobile) and Thunder Force V. Hopefully, if my Saturn arrives today. Otherwise maybe some Halo 2 Remastered.
GoW 4, Shadow Warrior 2 and some Rimworld.
Rocket League and Battlerite
Overwatch: Halloween grind edition
Hope OP gets this: Press middle mouse for a fixed camera I believe.
Cheers for that. Might give it a shot before I leave the office tonight.
CS, Dota, and getting into Dark Soul III if my internet sucks…
Just started the Blood and Wine expansion for Witcher 3, so will probably play a bit more of that.
