No matter how hard people tried – and you all had a decent go – people weren’t able to spot the fact that the first game this week was Dune 2. Next year marks Dune 2’s 25th anniversary, and I had the game on my mind after someone mentioned OpenRA recently for one reason or another.
But not to worry. Everyone gets a chance to redeem themselves today with a new game.
Good luck! And don’t forget to email in if you want to have a go.

Yeah. I don’t know why but I see that and think Syndicate even though I know I should think Hitman.
One of the many barcodes used for the Digimon D-Scanner / D-Tector handheld toy!
I was thinking along the same lines but that Jurassic Park game with the handheld scanner … can’t remember what it was called ..
(Edit – Scan Command! Of course I remembered what it was called as soon as I pushed send :P)
ONE?
Dune 2… the game I possibly played more than any game ever. It was right there, digging into my skull, saying “You know this” but my mind kept jumping back to Command and Conquer. It knew it was an RTS but it just wouldn’t let me see it.
You couldn’t see the spice for the additional pylons.
What the? Dune 2? Never even heard of that game, let alone played it. Yet for some reason it still seemed familiar.
As for today. I’m thinking Myst.
Command & Conquer was to Dune 2 what Warcraft 2 was to Warcraft 1.
Also, by C&C and Dune were both Westwood.
It’s offical; my taste in games suck as I’ve never even heard of Westwood.
get outta here.
That’s OK, there’s always time to catch up on history.
Westwood was my 90s … you insult me, sir. Good day to you. I SAID GOOD DAY. 😛
Well excuuuuuuuuse me for going top shelf (Nintendo, Cyan Worlds and pre-EA Maxis) instead of mingling with the unwashed peasants.
😛
OMG but you should catch up because Anthony Hopkins is amazing in Westwood
