In This Dating Sim, Your Boyfriend Is A Horse

My Horse Prince is an dating sim with a simple concept: What activities would be funniest when done by a horse?

The basic conceit of My Horse Prince is that the object of your affections is a horse. A horse with a man’s face, to be precise. The idea is disturbing, and the game knows it. Even the protagonist acknowledges that a horse with a human face is weird, even while thinking he’s super hot. Get ready for this joke to be run into the ground.

Each episode of the game presents a bizarre scenario you complete by tapping items on the screen. Each tap depletes Yuuma the horse’s energy bar, which you can refill by hitting the Talk button and having a chat with your horse boyfriend. By the time Yuuma has a part time job, you can chat with him about where he’d like to go shopping — he’s impressed if you ask if he needs new horseshoes. Both the conversations and the activities escalate in surreality pretty quickly. You start off by feeding Yuuma carrots, and before you know it he’s living with you and making your breakfast.

Despite the repetitive nature of the game, each weird situation our beleaguered protagonist gets herself into is oddly charming. Do you think it would be funny to watch a horse run on a treadmill? So does My Horse Prince. Chopping spring onions? The game has you covered. Doing roadwork? Oh, for sure. You wanna see a horse go surfing?

This is a mobile game, so it really only has enough room for the one joke, but if you’re into that one joke, then you should definitely pick this one up. My Horse Prince keeps finding a new way to be absurd long after you think it should be over.
