This Week In Games: Miku Time

We’re still in the really quiet period of the year, with the substantial exception of one character: Miku.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone (PS4)

What is it? An arcade rhythm game featuring virtual popstar Hatsune Miku.
Should you care? I know some people who will lose their shit over this. Thumper is more my jazz, but Hastune Miku does plenty of cool things.

Fatal Fury (PS4)

What is it? A PS4 re-release of the side-scrolling NEOGEO beat-em-up.
Should you care? I’d look for it on another platform. Some of the Arcade Archives games (like Double Dragon 2) have been a little janky.

Asdivine Hearts (PS3, PS4, Vita)

What is it? A turn-based 2D JRPG about restoring the balance between light and shadow.
Should you care? It didn’t really gain any traction on Steam when it launched last year. There are probably better JRPGs (like I Am Setsuna) to play first.

Life of Black Tiger (PS4)

What is it? PS4 re-release of an iOS game where you run around as a black tiger and kill stuff.
Should you care? Look at it. Why is this on the PSN again?

Planet 2000 (PS4)

What is it? A strategy/third-person action game a little reminiscent to C&C Renegade.
Should you care? It almost looks so bad that it’s worth playing. The trailer literally features enemy vehicles sitting around doing nothing.

Ladykiller in a Bind (PC)

What is it? An erotic visual novel about crossdressing and social manipulation.
Should you care? Probably more interesting to see how Steam handles games of this nature in 2017, than actually playing this game itself. (The trailer literally advertises one of the characters as “the slut”.)

Warlock’s Tower (PC)

What is it? A retro puzzler where every move you make equals a life lost.
Should you care? This looks very, very cool. Could be one of those surprise indies that pops up in January that everyone ends up talking about.

Sylvio (PS4, XBO)

What is it? A PS4 re-release of a psychological first-person horror game.
Should you care? Had a reasonable reception a couple of years back when it launched on Steam. Might be worth it if you liked Layers of Fear.

Xenoraid (Vita)

What is it? A side-scrolling shooter.
Should you care? Need new games for the Vita? Still using your Vita?

Rise & Shine (PC, XBO)

What is it? The latest Adult Swim-published title, which also happens to be a side-scrolling shooter.
Should you care? It looks cool enough.
Some things to take note of: Night of the Woods was due out tomorrow, but it’s since been delayed until early February. Otherwise, those are the biggest and most interesting titles due out this week. See anything else that I missed? Grabbing anything new this week? Let us know in the comments!
