According to 4Gamer, via Media Create, Nintendo Switch came in top in the country’s hardware ranking for the week of March 20 to March 26. Here’s how the Japanese hardware sales chart look for that period:

Switch – 78,441 units

New 3DS XL – 29,771

PS4 – 25,472

Vita – 7574

2DS – 6722

PS4 Pro – 5261

PS3 – 2930

New 3DS – 2866

Wii U – 411

Xbox One – 115

The hardware to focus on is the Nintendo Switch, because here’s how those numbers compare to the week of March 13 to March 19, its third week on sale:

Switch – 49,913

New 3DS XL – 33,352

PS4 – 28,805

Vita – 8004

2DS – 6131

PS4 Pro – 5823

New 3DS – 2796

PS3 – 2212

Wii U – 368

Xbox One – 135

Generally, the other console sales numbers are somewhat stable. With a new huge release, the spike in sales might be to a larger number of Switch consoles hitting retail.

In comparison, there were 61,998 Switch consoles sold in its second week. That follows a debut week of 329,152 Switch consoles sold.

How does this compare to other hardware sales in Japan? Here’s a comparison via 2ch (the 週 character means “week”).
