The Capital Wasteland Project, a mod remaking Fallout 3 inside Fallout 4, has been un-canceled. And it’s going to feature an all new cast of voice actors.
The project’s lead developer had previously given up on it after Bethesda told him he couldn’t re-use audio from the third game. The team has now decided to re-record all of the dialogue themselves.
“For myself after working for hundreds of hours on this project and then having to stop really made me depressed. Something I had an extreme passion for was suddenly not there anymore. So after taking a few months break, I slowly picked up the pieces and continued my work on the Capital Wasteland,” the project’s co-lead explained on the Capital Wasteland blog.
“With the help of our voice acting lead Unoctium we are working towards re-voicing the lines from Fallout 3. This is a very big undertaking as there are approximately 45,000 voice lines in Fallout 3. We are looking for people to join our team; as of right now we only have a handful of people working on this project.”
In addition to voice actors, the team are also keen to recruit level designers, 3D artists, 2D artists, animators, environment artists and VFX artists. Note that this is a free mod so contributors wont be paid. If you’d like to take part, you can get in contact with the developers here.

Yes initially just release without, then offer a ADDON as a DLC sort of thing once voice gets done. (or in updates)
I just don’t get why they’re doing such a huge project when the graphics in fallout 3 are still pretty good and now will run on most PCs in high settings with ease.
I’d be worried that by the time this comes out the fallout 4 engine will be looking dated itself, as it’s now 3 years old too, and people will just pick the original as there’s all the mods to play around with, DLC etc.
There not that good. Personally I would prefer if they remade fallout3 with lumberyard or something, which I think is free for projects like this.
I really despise the Bethesda creation/geck engine whatever there calling it these days,… FO76 is just full of issues.
The graphics in 3 are terrible, the game looks way better using 4’s

People still enjoy playing Morrowind. Fallout 3 is lightyears ahead, and can be significantly modded.
This will just be another Skywind / Skyblivion.
Whats worse, is that FO3 wasn’t even that great. At least do NV! 🙂

Shame the combat sucks in fo4. Tis just a matter of cheesing in melee and resources in ranged. No dodging, grappling, diving, provoking, rolling, or zoning. Also the gear, power scaling, specing, and story are stale
