In an interview with EPSN, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, who recently lent his voice to the game Brutal Legend, talked about the group’s Nintendo gaming.

“In Judas Priest, we actually play the games in the dressing room,” said the singer. Generally before a show. Just to get in the mood for the excitement and the energy for what we’re gonna do.

“However, at our stately metal god time of life, we tend to do the Nintendo bowling. And the golfing. If there’s any energy left after the show, we get into the boxing mode.”

Halford recently trademarked the name of a video game “Metal God” this past January. The trademark covers “computer games; video games; and game controllers for computer games.”

Not folks like, you know, Shigeru Miyamoto who went to a normal college.

“Nintendo has become one of those companies that graduates from colleges and good universities really want to work for,” Miyamoto told Edge in its latest issue (via Eurogamer).

“Because of that, the competition’s really become so fierce for positions. And that means that a lot of the recent recruits for Nintendo have tended to have the higher degree from the prestigious colleges and universities and whatnot. I often say to Mr Iwata: ‘If I was applying for a job here today, I, with my actual college degree, would probably not have been employed by Nintendo!’”

So Nintendo’s current hiring practices are a bad thing, no?

Just listen to what producer Don Carmody has to say:

“Part two made more than one, three made more than two and we’re hoping four will make more than three,” he said. “It keeps the franchise strong. What we want to avoid is what’s happening with the Saw franchise which is going the other way. We’re hoping Paul being back in the driver’s seat with 3-D and these big action set pieces will keep it going.”

So Resident Evil has director Paul W.S. Anderson back in the director chair, big action pieces and 3-D. Oh, and Milla Jovovich! So hopefully it will make more money than the last movie — unlike the Saw franchise.

According to The Chicago Tribune, a 15-year-old called 911 and then hung up. He wanted to know whether or not his parents were within their rights to take away his Xbox 360.

The parents were, the police replied. Authorities then showed up at the boy’s house after he hung up, and after listening to the story, told him that his parents were within their rights to take away his game console as punishment.

The police also advised the boy to listen to his parents and stop wasting taxpayers money. Well, don’t know about that last one – but they should’ve told him that, too!

Authorities do not know why the boy was being punished. Yeah, why would any parent punish a child who would question their authority and then call 911?

The service is set to kick off next year, and give the brand a boast.

“We want to increase the value, or the brand loyalty of our Sony products. There is no question about it,” said Sony Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai in a recent interview.

Hirai, who overseas games and network services, noted that Sony in the past has not been good at communicating between divisions. The exec also noted that the future integration of the PSN is something unique to Sony.

“That’s the kind of combination that I think is not seen anywhere else,” Hirai said. “That I think is where our core competence lies, and that’s a differentiator for Sony.”
