Cobalt Blue Nintendo DS Confirmed For February 10

The "cobalt blue" Nintendo DS is certainly coming and now we know the exact date. Retailer GameStop has begun receiving advertising materials, posting window displays featuring a February 10 release date. That's the same drop date we heard from a Kmart employee earlier today. That puts the "cobalt blue" DS street date in sync with the domestic release of Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the portable, both of which should benefit from the side-by-side release. Now that my DS Lite is on the fritz, perhaps I'll upgrade. Or side-grade. Whatever.

My white (because way back in 2006 I couldn't wait for other colors) DS Lite's top screen just got cracked, and Cobalt Blue is my favorite color......but I just can't. Replacement screens are cheap. Why can't Nintendo just come out with the 3rd DS already?

I thought it said "Colbert Blue" on the RSS and I was like "WTF, a DS for Colbert?" Well then I am sold! But I realized I was just sick and misread Cobalt. Man being sick sucks...

Just some notes, sorry about the back picture, it's taken from my cell phone. It's just like the Crimson Red / Black DS, It's got a Cobalt Blue top, with a Black matte base (the non shiny plastic), so it doesn't get finger prints. I haven't seen one in person yet so I don't know if they are sporting the new (yellowish tint LCD) or the old, normal LCD (or maybe a 3rd gen LCD all together).
Also, an email went out this morning that there will be no pre-orders on them, and they will be allocated based on sales per store of previous DS's.

Yeah, I think its time for myself to finally bite the bullet and buy one. There's so many games for it, but I just never got around to buying one for myself.
Back when I lived with my now-ex gf, I bought her one for X-Mas and played hers for the 2 years we lived together.
I better see an FF6 3D remake ala FF3 and FF4...

All Cobalt Blue would be much, much better than black and blue. I think the red and black one is ugly as hell, and I love the blue color, but I just think it looks stupid with two different colors like that.
I guess I'll stick with my white DS.

@method47: You know what after just looking at it again with that in mind, I can see it either way, you can almost make out that its supposed to be black. One can hope.

@ssjmichael: But, and this is where I convinced myself that it was.t blue and black, if you look at the hing and the top part of the blu ds, its all blue, not black like in the other pic. It may just be the tint of the scan itself.
Too me it seems way to blue to not actually be blue, sadly.

REALLY like this blue one. My DS Phat, which I got as a gift back in 05, is still going strong, though. Part of me feels like it'd be silly, from both an economic and sentimental perspective, to buy a new one to replace a unit that works perfectly fine.
The other side says, ME WANT. (finally a DS Lite that looks fairly cool!)
C'mon, Senate, pass the stupid tax rebate checks! ;)

Guys it's definitely blue and black. The black just looks blue because of the poor picture. Even the black on the crimson has a blueish tint.

When I bought my white DS lite a year ago I got a dead pixel right out of the box. Was too lazy to send it off so I guess I'll just buy one of the new colors and pray there's no dead pixels.

February 10th? I think I'll be getting another paycheck between now and then. If I can put off eating anything for the next two weeks I can just spend my whole paycheck on the new DS when it comes out. It will also be my first one because I being a poor ass bastard haven't been able to afford one up till now, making the idea of not eating seem quite appealing.

If its not blue and black I don't want it. All blue doesn't interest me, I wanted it to have the look of the crimson only blue. not to mention the matte backing of the crimson > plastic gloss coating.

Mcwhertor get an older DS Lite, the LCD's aren't as good on the new ones!
Also another thing I didn't like about the Crimson was the matte feeling on the bottom. It felt too rough holding it compared to the glossy surface of the onyx and white ones. Might just be me, but I didn't like holding the crimson.

i'm glad it's blue/black because now i can still feel elite with my navy ds lite that was only in japan...and when i was there over xmas, i noticed it was rare that a store even had the navy ones. anyone live there that can confirm this? i'd love to think i have a semi-rare color ds ;)...even though there are cracks on the hinges :(
