flOw Coming To PSP Soon?
Posted by Michael McWhertor at 9:40 AM on January 31, 2008
A listing for a PSP version of the PlayStation 3 game flOw from thatgamecompany has appeared on the UK-centric version of PlayStation.com, indicating that it will appear in January via the PC version of the PlayStation Store. The listing was unearthed by a member of the developer's official forums and elicited a response from team member John Edwards that read "thatgamecompany does not comment on rumor and speculation" followed by one of those little smiley faces that makes the previous sentence ironically informative.
flOw for PSP already has ratings of E from the ESRB and 3+ from PEGI, but the title hasn't been officially announced yet. We've contacted SCEA for more information and will update when we have more.

@Lyrai: Excellent, does that mean Metal Gear Solid: Non-Portable Ops will be out soon? :P

As long as it's a physical copy, rather than download, I'll be happy.

@Black-Dog-Howls: I was making a jab at the slew of solid PSP titles that got PS2 ports.

I will definitely download and play this, if it's coming out. Wait, I meant after they announce that it's coming out.

@Lyrai: It won't go PS2. This is probably still a download only title up for the PSP store.
It'll be cool if they let people that purchased fl0w already download it with out purchasing it again. Seeing as I could do that with Crash Bandicoot 2. (damn nostalgia)

@JonC: Yes, I did. I believe they decided to go with motion sensing to emulate the mouse version. That's still a lot more.... ah what's the phrase... different than simply using an analogue stick. I'd try to elaborate my point, but I'm quite tired and I'm about to go to bed, so I apologize for my vagueness. (yes I live in the future)

Awesome, if it's coming to the PSP then the PS2 port can't be far behind!

@-MoarPlz-: You know fl0w existed as a PC game before, with no motion controls or gamepads required.

@bangbangblah: I dunno, it just sounds weird that a game that uses the Sixaxis will be going to a completely different platform. It's kinda like announcing if Nintendo announced Wii Fit for the DS. Ok, that was a little exaggerated, but you see why I find it a little bit strange. I'd still play it, but it wouldn't be the same as the glorious PS3 version.

well if you think about it the real original game was keyboard controlled so a psp may not be a sixaxis but it does have an analog stick.

@glitched: Because 99.9% of the world's internet infrastructure isn't robust enough for remote play to be a viable option?

And also, in terms of PS3 downloadable games coming to the PSP, wasn't Calling All Cars supposed to hit the handheld a while ago?

I don't have a PS3, just a PSP. So I'll be glad if they have a PSP version :)

@-MoarPlz-: Why be surprised? If it costs them little to nothing to do it, then of course they'll put it up for sale. I'm assuming games like this won't lose much money. Can only gain at this point.

@Plunkett: ...And motion sensing? This seems like a strange addition to the PSP. The whole idea of fl0w was to utilize the Sixaxis and the idea of playing it in teeny-weeny-eye-strain-o-vision without the actual origional controls does not make sense. On the whole, I'll be surprised if this is true.

Can the PSP handle such a hardcore PS3 game?

@Plunkett:
Yeah that and the sixaxis made this game cool. On PSP it might just be boring. W/o motion controls this game would be too easy.
It would be nice though if those who bought this already can just dl an update that'll let you play it on your PSP w/o rebuying it.

Rumours were abound for a while that this was coming. If so, we'll be getting it tomorrow.
Apart from that, the only other confirmation is that Europe will be getting the Patapon demo that the US gets but on the PSP store instead of through pre-orders. It'll be out on the 21st February, the day before the game's probable full price release :-).

This game never originally had motion control when it was on PC so I don't know what everyone is complaining about.

@-MoarPlz-: But wasn't it originally a PC game, anyway? I'm pretty sure the PS3 version was just customized for the SIXAXIS. The game was still highly received for PC if I'm not wrong.
But yeah, I totally agree. If they made Super Rub a Dub, I'd be extremely confused.
