Gizmondo Rising Again In 2008? No, Says Gizmodo

Like you, brother site Gizmodo was recently informed of a web site for Gizmondo Live, one that promised a rebirth of the dead as a doornail handheld from Tiger Telematics. The reason for so many folks becoming familiar with the site that promises a new Gizmondo with an "open source environment" and "exciting psychic worlds" that will "democratise gaming" may be due to the prison release of a former executive. Regardless, hints that Gizmondo will rise from the ashes are greatly exaggerated, says sister site Gizmodo.
They rumour smash the whole scenario, from bullshit quotes from former execs to poor Swedish sources to theories that the site is the work of a prankster. There's not much in the way of hard evidence, but we genuinely hope that no one sinks their money into such a poorly considered venture.

I'm glad Kotaku keeps the overall look of the page pretty constant. It just wouldn't feel like home again if they changed the color scheme. *I'm knocking on wood just in case*

I have a friend who considers the Gizmondo the greatest console ever. This will be both heartening and saddening.

@GC: It's not as confusing as when they started talking about the Gizmondo car crash on Gizmodo months after the incident which happened before I was a regular to the site. I had no idea what was going on.

Well someone on Joystiq or somewhere else already found the Flash format that was used on the site ($66 if anyone's interested, lol) so either they're going bare bones or it really is just a prank.

Afaik, Gizmondo didn't fare well thanks to one single idiocy: 60-second ads pausing your game every several minutes. Even though you bought said game.
At that time I wanted to develop for it, but just after we finished the 2-3 games we were making at that time on PalmOS, Gizmondo died.
This "announcement" reminds me of the PalmOS6 headlines: "it's coming, finally!". It's like hearing echoes in a graveyard.

Ah, Gizmondo. Yeah, this thing didn't stand a chance then and it doesn't now. Dead on arrival before it could be crushed into powder under Nintendo's mighty heel.
It's obviously a scam by now. Gotta wonder if anyone will be dumb enough to invest in it, given that about the only way to get any information on this thing by the look of it is through here.

I keep reading Gizmodo as Gizmondo, even now.
A friend of mine has one, keeps calling it better than the PSP because it's more powerful for homebrew and he's always been anti-Sony when it comes to the PSP & PS3. =P He's talking nonsense, as is anyone who seriously thinks that a potential Gizmondo comeback is something worth investing in.
Having said that, they DID manage to release a product eventually, eh 3D Realms?
