yeah they also tote ridiculous features that would be considered derivative(or necessary) on any other game. Like "Hailing a game to get around the city faster" BIG FUCKING DEAL!! Its called a warp point all big expansive world games use them except well...GTA UNTIL NOW!! Now that they have jumped ship OMG they are giving us NEW FEATURES. Or hey how about how they take away character customization and say its a good thing...Why don't they just admit that they can't pull it off or have run out of time and can't do it. Oh maybe you'll be lucky and they'll make some bull shit patch for it.

What I like about R* is that they don't show you bullshots, these are actual in game graphics, so if anything, you won't be disappointed...

It's a shame some people are judging the game on screenshots alone. When has GTA ever been all about visuals? READ the freaking previews, they are cramming this game with new features that makes it very much a new game. Greatly improved aiming system, Gears of War like cover system, AI that actually takes cover now, physics that control everyone's movements. I mean for gods sake the GPS in some of the cars is voice activated (you know like "left turn here".) Oh and you can look up criminal records if you happen to "find" your way into an unoccupied police car and hop on to their laptop (leading one to believe you can look at your own criminal record through out the game). Even if it has a hue of "same old shit", that same old shit is the polished GTA sandbox experience, and that's not a bad thing. So hush you goons.

@Kirkpad: I wasn't nearly as excited about San Andreas before it came out as I was about Vice City, I thought that I had played enough of this franchise. Then I picked up SA one weekend I had nothing else to play, and the gameplay just hooked me back in, there is just so much to do. But then again it is understandable that some people might just get tired of it eventually.

I agree with Vishusburn about how every time you play you can have a different experience. Also, you can play the same mission in all different ways until you find your own way to beat it, and that's very unique.

@VishusBurn: I See what you are saying, but having played all of them since the original 2D version from back in the day, the only two new experiences I have ever had in a GTA game since its 2D inception are: being able to swim; being able to jump.

Every iteration I hope for something new, but instead it's a swear-laden gunfest filled with unfunny "potty humor". Which is cool if you never get tired of such things, but... I think I will pass on this one. I'm pretty much done with any and all GTA for good.

I disagree. While the core gameplay ideas may have stayed the same; the open ended nature of the game makes it possibility to have a completely different experience every time you pick up the controller.

The missions themselves are only a small part of the greatness of GTA IMOO.

At least this is a game I know for sure it will be worth the money I spend on it. So far I've been very selective on the current gen games I've gotten partially due to how much they cost since not all of them deliver. But this one is a no brainer.

GTA keeps getting prettier, but it seems to stay the same 'steal car, drive to point A, kill people, drive to point B, outrun cops, next mission' sort of game.

Oh well. It will sell even with it's Dynasty Warriors syndrome.

@aribus: i agree. thought about burnout with its open-world driving, then thought about GTA. Was gonna get crackdown (cheapo at the mo) and then thought about GTA.
Basically, GTA has grown to encompass genres and because of this i'ts taken the territory of some games (although you could argue burnout was a take-off from GTA). Would i play burnout again where its key element is open-world driving after purchasing gta? Do i want to learn one massive city driving course, only to have to learn another when GTA comes out in a couple of months? I don't know if i would.

I am a sucker for "sandbox type games" as I just love exploring. Looking forward to this one because being able to climb up fire escapes and do roof top to roof top jumps greatly increases the explore factor. Should be fun.

As for the red in the trunk, I believe it is the red glow from the tail-lights shining on the characters in the dark.

Speaking of exclusives, I wonder when we'll get some info on the 360 only GTA 4 expansions?Since the 360 version has bsaicly been ready to be shipped since OCT'07, they've had a TON of extra time to polish the core 360 GTA 4 game and to work on the exclusive expansions.I would hope MS and Rockstar would announce something about them soon, but Sony might cry(even though it doesn't have anything to do with them and therefore shouldn't be concerned as i'm sure the PS3 GTA4 core game will be just peachy).
