I just bought an 8GB card for my PSP and I think it's more than enough. Though, I wouldn't mind sticking on of these into my PSP. Ah shit.. just remembered about the Skype compatibility to the PSP slim... maybe I'll purchase one of these for one of the slims when I decide to purchase one.

The point I was making though is that Sony thinks bigger memory sticks will encourage people to use the PSP as a media player more. However as I pointed out for the same price (or less) as JUST the memory stick you could get a much better portable media player. Yes you can't play Jeanne de Arc on an Archos but you can get an Archos and a PSP for about the same as a PSP and the memory stick. Sure it's extra junk to lug around but I'd prefer a little more weight in my backpack to a little less in my wallet.

Memory sticks are overpriced if they are made by Sony but they work great. I usually buy Sandisk ones. I bought an 8 gig for about 60 so it makes no sense to charge 300 for 16 gigs so I hope the price will come down. There is no way someone is going to buy a memory stick at more than the cost of an actual PSP system.

@Odin: and all those saying this is too expensive, need to realize this is not aimed at you. This is aimed at early adopters onyl and to get this out into the market. This is the cost of most of the larger Pro Duos when they were first introduced. I am only taking this as probably price drop for the 8gb coming and that a 16gb is now possible. No way I'd spend 300 on this, and there was no way I'd spend 300 on a 2gb or a 4gb when they first were announced. I've bought memory for the psp first a around the 100 dollar mark and now I'm waiting until around the 50 dollar mark. I imagine the majority are somewhere in that area as well.
