Devil May Cry 4 Finally Coming To Dartboards
Posted by Michael McWhertor at 10:40 AM on February 1, 2008
Japanese gamers who are still on the fence about a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 purchase got some good news today, as Capcom is bringing Devil May Cry 4 to electronic dartboards. Specifically, Epoch's PC-Darts platform, which hooks up to Windows boxes via a USB connection. How will it play? Just like regular darts, I suppose, but there will be fantastic Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers and sound effects to enhance the experience. At only 31,290 yen (about $US 290) I don't know how any Capcom fan could pass this one up.

To: Capcom
We (The people that have signed this petition) feel very left out in your decision to make Devil May Cry 4 a Multi-Platform title, and hereby agree to boycott your sale of Capcom affiliated games. This is due to your decision to turn your back on your most faithful gaming company. For years we have enjoyed games, we have reaped the benefits of your committment to Sony. We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself. We want you to know that will not, and should not stand for your actions, and therefore withold our option of buying your product.
Sincerely,
...a bunch of jackasses

Er... I'm... Not sure what to think of this... It's nifty. But not nearly nifty enough to warrant it's 31,290 yen price tag.

@Luke Plunkett:
You mean ... leave Kotaku? It's a big world wide web out there, I'm not sure I'm ready.
Okay. Took the chance. Looked at the pics and this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Just a normal dartboard with images on your PC? That's it? Unless I'm still missing something, this is the worst idea in a history of bad ideas. And I like playing darts.

Or, you know, you could pay about 20 bucks or so, buy a normal analog dartboard. Maybe another ten or so for a small chalkboard and just score darts yourself. Maybe draw a little Dante up in the corner of it in chalk or something. Maybe he's killing your 301 scores, who knows. It's still saving you a couple hundred dollars.

Hmm, is it me or is the dartboard not connected to the laptop in this pic: [www.watch.impress.co.jp]
I see the cord, but I don't see it leading to the pc.

What do you throw at the boards? Or is it just a Wii like motion-control thing? I'm totally lost as to what PC-Darts are or why anyone would pay $290 USD for them.

Seeing as publishers use darts to select release date targets, they may as well get this board so they can at least look ssstylish while they do it.

I'm so tired, I kept reading "Darthboards" up there and tried to draw a connection between DMC4 and Darth Vader. Then I read again and wasn't less confused.

They considered bringing this game to the Wii...but then they remembered what happens when a Wiimote becomes intimate with an HDTV.

It won't happen again. What I saw was a desolate, frightening and ugly place. And none of it was puke green, red and vomit yellow. It was traumatizing.
