AIAS Award Winners To Get Recognition At GameStops. Last night's winners at the 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards will not only get a sales boost from those who caught the awards online, they'll also get a kick in the sales pants from shoppers at GameStop. AIAS president Joseph Olin told DICE attendees today that the academy has partnered with the retailer to add special mention to games like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rock Band, Assassin's Creed and others with a sticker calling out each game's win. That means you'll see yet another sticker on display cases at GameStop and EBgames across the country, promoting each title's "Game of the Year" status.

@Tsunamipepper: Actually, as long as you don't end up buying the display copy there are zero stickers on the game. And I can't speak for everyone but I don't think we really have that big of a problem about the stickers that they put on the cases. Rather, it's Gamestops business practices that we have a problem with. So if we can find any reason to badmouth Gamestop we take full advantage of it. Is it fair? No. But neither is Gamestop...Or Fox News. Zing!

Dude, WTF? Gamestops only have 1 sticker on the new games. The price tag. Stop being such biased idiots. Everyone goes to Gamestop anyway.

If you put some paint thinner on a paper towel it will take off that sticky crap right away! I used that to remove stickers from games I get off ebay/gamestop. Then you can just rinse it off and they are good as new.

@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: nice, i got it there used for $4.99 last year at the summer game sale, I sold it to a friend for 20 then bought the DVD. That movie is awsome! I found a Blockbuster video close to my house that sells PS2 and Xbox cases 5 for $1 so i usualy just swap my games out for those then swap them back into the gunky case on the rare occasion decide to trade them in.

@Sinnbox: Yeah. The one good thing about gamestop is that i found Advent Children UMD for like $9. The sticky stuff wouldnt come off so i just switched it with another game box.

@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: I hate buying games from gamestop, They always end up having nasty sticker residue on the case, i used to soak them in rubbing alcahol, but now they wont even come off with that...

I don't some of these even need GotY with all the attention fellow gamers and editors have given them, but it wont stop people from asking you to preorder the next big thing.
