Close Your Eyes And Hope For Red Alert 3
The latest Command & Conquer Battlecast, the official, full-of-ham video podcast of the series, has teased fans with news of a new product announcement, due in two weeks time. One that will give you "one more reason to cheer". It can't be a C&C3 expansion, that's already underway. It can't be Tiberium, because that's well out of the bag. Which when you look at the Command & Conquer universe leaves us with... Red Alert! Yes, the best damn games in the series. EA, if this is indeed the case, and you're making another Red Alert game, so help me God, you'd better get Kari Wuhrer on the phone.
PS - Yes, it could - hypothetically - be another Generals game, but they said it was a reason to cheer, not bitch about why they weren't making another Red Alert.

Yeah, the implants were encapsulated- they got hard, they ruptured or something. So it was dangerous for her to keep them in.
If they ruin Red Alert 3 they will have a mob the size of a small country on their doorstep, and I will be in that mob.

I actually enjoyed Generals a lot. Not as much as Red Alert 2 with Yuri's Revenge, but either game announcement will make me screech a little, whether I'm at work or at home.

Please please please please please. I was disappointed with Generals, though I don't think it's actually bad, but C&C3 restored my faith. Red Alert 3 could be the hottest thing since Tanya.

@Overlord44: Actually they bought Westwood from Virgin right before Tiberian Sun came out. The had sway over all the games that came out after that, but Renegade was the one they did the most harm to.

@jp182: No, they bought Westwood just after RA2 came out, and had a bit of sway over Yuri's Revenge, then they destroyed the company and left it's rotting sodden carcass out, then they wasted a perfectly good franchise with Generals & Zero Hour. I'll never forgive EA for killing Westwood. C&C3 is OK but it's nothing on Tib Sun & RA2. =(

@Thorn: i know how you feel and kinda agree. I thought C&C2 was lackluster and I thought Red Alert was ok. I didn't know so many people thought it was so great and I'm not sure if I understand why. Generals was weak but I enjoyed C&C3.

They need to port RA2 to the DS... If EA makes a 3d Red Alert I will burn every copy of command and conquer I have because THEY SUCK as making Command and Conquer games. Generals was OK.. the new CnC3 sucked big time. Come one EA put RA2 on the DS (Edit rules editor ;) and SD Mini Card for added units )

Red alert, one of the best rts ever. I havn't played the new ones so I don't know if it gotten worse or for the better but a new red alert can't be bad news.

Man, I've been waiting since, like, RA2:YR(Semi-disappointing btw) for this game. I hope EA doesn't fuck it up. And The Red Alert games have a special place in my gaming history. The Tiberium and Generals universes were ok, but RA2 always felt the the best RTS I've ever played.

@Kyouryuu: Actually the original Red Alert did take itself seriously and was originally intended to be a prequel to the original C&C. It was the guys at what is now EALA that decided to make a campy sequel to Red Alert that didn't fit with the existing continuity.

Red Alert 3 would be awesome. I loved how that branch of the Command & Conquer franchise didn't take itself very seriously. The campy cinematics were wonderful. The more serious tone of C&C3 and Generals really doesn't do it for me at all.

Red Alert...goddamn, what a good time I had with that game. You can't beat the crazy tank rushes you'd have in multiplayer. Jesus, I remember playing it at superspeed. You'd build a ton of war factories, and go nuts building tanks. Something like one tank would come out of the war factory every few seconds. And then it was nonstop tank warfare. It was INSANE, and I loved every minute of it. If they can recreate that, they've got my 50 bucks.

I'm in the minority that didn't like Red Alert, and whilst I loved the original C&C to death, with every subsequent game the novelty wore off. I played Generals and Zero Hour a little, but nowhere near the original. You can never recapture that joy, so I guess I stopped trying. Of course, that's not going to stop EA from trying to get me to buy their new game, whatever it is.
