Gamespot's Jason Ocampo Now IGN's Jason Ocampo. Hey, just a quick update on yesterday's development involving former Gamespot reviewer Jason Ocampo—the former PC-centric reviewer has jumped ship from CNet to IGN and will be their new PC Editor In Chief. Ocampo appears in the latest Game Scoop! podcast, revealing his new secret identity as an IGNer. Thanks for the tip, Richard!

@DigitalHero: Pretty sure the internet existed when your parents were in junior high. :-)

After asking, I remembered, this is "Cnet" we're talking about, so they'll survive, they've got the advertising money. But with a revolving door of reviewers/previewers, I doubt GSpot's got many fans left.

@MCWHAMMER: I'm pretty sure they'll have no problem filling the spots with people trying to make their start in the industry. Gamespot probably has more than a few openings right now.

In all seriousness, how is Gamespot still around? I've been following all of the news stories closely, and listening to The Hotspot weekly. How many dedicated writers do they have left, does anyone know? And one thing I haven't heard is how many they've brought in to replace the defected...
My guess for the next to leave is Brendan Sinclair. I don't know why I say that, but it seems like the next logical move. He's a nice guy, I've actually got in touch with him several times on Live for various topics. He's knowledgeable.

I also prefer IGN as well. I wonder what happened to their former PC editor-in-chief.

@DigitalHero:
IGN's been around for 10 years and before that a lot of people frequented the sites that became the IGN channel sites (n64.com became IGN64.com, PSXPower.com became ignpsx.com etc.)

Yeah, I usually check ign after checking Kotaku. I love there reviews and previews, but for videogame news there is no one even close to as fast or good as Kotaku.

You must be young because there was no IGN or even the internet until I was a Junior in High School.

Guess the word of him joining Gerstmann's rumored new site were untrue. Oh well!

JUST downloaded the podcast and popped overhear to see if there was any news, and BLAM, top of the page.
Good going.

Nice. I've always preferred IGN, don't know why. Just the place I started going when I was younger I suppose.
