I went to 2 different GameStops today thinking that they had the Metal Gear History dvd available now, and that I'd get the beta key in April. The guy at the second store was sure that no other stores had it yet, and said that it may be available when the game was out. So I put down a fiver and said screw it.

Got home, ran on the PC to check this article again, and found that I'm a complete idiot. At least the game's reserved!

Just got off the phone with my local Gamestop. If you DO use Gamestop, I recommend you reserve the game ASAP, even if you cannot pick up the disc until early April since they go on a first come, first serve program for content like that and Konami did say it would be a limited run (although I'm sure that was just said to get more people to pre-order the game). Heh if you listen to the podcast they always joke about MGS4 selling 1 million copies on opening day but I think that is well within the realm of possibility. In fact I would be surprised if it didn't do better than that.

@cherrybomb: I was also surprised they had it on pre-order (they even had the wrong date of course though). I went in to buy Rock Star and asked about when MGS4 would go start pre-ordering and they said "well you can do that now". Also sorry for my misleading comments, my mind is apparently a month into the future as you will still have to wait until April to pick this up. Of course that is a month away since March comes after February, but I guess the fanboi in me was trying to bend spacetime.

They've even given pre-order stuff for free, like when I went to pick up my copy of MGS Saga Vol. 1 for pre-ordering MGS3:Subsistance, the guy asked me if I had played LOTR:Online and I said no and he gave me a pre-order copy that let me play the full game for 30 days and came with a cool poster.

I just looked at my pre-order receipt. Even though I pre-ordered MGS4 on Jan. 24th, I have no doubt I will be able to walk into the store Saturday and pick up the Saga Vol. 2 DVD (this is a REALLY great way to hold people over until the game/final version of MGO is released).

The DVD inclusion is an awesome idea. The Metal Gear story is by far one of the greatest plots and history in any video game, and although I've admired every MGS game, I need to catch up on the story

If you pre-ordered already, you obviously can get it. Even if they wouldn't just give it to you based on the fact that you already ordered, you could just cancel your preorder and preorder again. As that would just be ridiculous, I'm sure they'll just give it to you if you have a preorder.

@Bam345: Why do you need an HDTV to import ps3 games, don't they have an NTSC SDTV mode? Most PAL TVs also support NTSC; unless yours is a really cheap/old TV it shouldn't have a problem. You should look into buying a monitor and running the PS3 through hdmi or an xcm vga box with component cables.
