I think this idea is great.
IMHO the psp has never been comfortable while playing. Guess they designed it for small japanese hands.
I hope to find this attachment soon.

how is this thing new? i bought one from amazon well over a year ago. i dont use it for portability, i use it at home so my large hands dont get all cramped up. and you know what they say about a guy with large hands...

I've got pretty big hands and the PSP has always felt a little odd to handle. This controller grip/thing sounds great to me. Now, only if we can get them in the US...or did I miss something.

@Sicknsore:
Yeah I have one too. The quality is kinda low and its not as great as it looks. But the psp is definitely too small for people with bigger hands / longer fingers. The extra battery is great but this takes a lot of getting used to.
If it wasn't collapsible it would be better as it would make it sturdier.

I used to have an adaptor like this for my original GBA, it was great really. This looks like more of the same, but the PSP looks so good naked - why put this monstrosity on it? I guess for around the house only play, it would be good.

I noticed my hands don't cramp up on the slim PSP compared to the original.
Who would have thought the tiny weight loss and slimness would make a difference.

@Witzbold: I play the J version which is why I forgot what they called the bloody thing in the states. No idea why they added the "freedom" shit to the name. Sounds rather stupid personally.

I bought one of these a couple years ago when I first got my PSP and it made ALL the difference. I mean, were the PSPs specifically designed to give you deformed gimp hands after an hour of button mashing? This thing totally saved my digits from carpal tunnel hell. I can't imagine playing a PSP without one. I mean, if I could still imagine playing my PSP...

Hmm I might consider picking one up, since holding the PSP for long periods of time is killer on the fingers. Even more so when it comes to MHP marathons.

I've had one of these for years and I can attest it its absolutely essential for any of you that experience the Playstation's "claw-hand" effect after playing for a while. My adult-sized hands cramped up after playing my PSP without this thing and now it's very comfortable. It kills portability, but as a plus it does protect your PSP a little.
It's cheap and functions well.

I got the Nyko Version of this! It's got smoother edges and is out fitted with an internally charging feature. Although it doesn't have the large back to simulate a Dual Shock or the f***'n Sixaxis. And it ain't White think my Original PSP, but that's ok...

These have been available for quite a while from those unnamed, generic accessories manufacturers actually. I got an imported Japanese PSP not too long before the system was released in the UK, and I picked up one of these for it from ebay. Although it's ugly and feels like it was built on a budget of about 20p (what did I expect for £10), it does make the PSP a lot more comfortable to hold and play. Obviously it's not going to be ideal for those of you who carry the system around in your pocket, but if you use it to take on holiday or to uni or whatever and find it more often stored in a backpack, then it's worth grabbing. Mine also has a battery inside it, so that you can almost double the battery life of the PSP by plugging it in to the charging port.

A second analog stick on the PSP would be beyond retarded, it's not ergonomically feasible unless they split the screen from the unit... and then you have all kinds of design nightmares to deal with.
I think the PSP is fine as it is... not buying one because it doesn't have a second stick is like saying that you won't buy a DS until they come with analog sticks.

I had something like this for the GBA that had a rechargable battery built in and everything. It was probably the worst gaming-related purchase I've ever made.
Just like this product, it was bulky, uncomfortable, and just plain ugly.

@i.Ninja: I have a feeling that a second analog stick would make the PSP much harder to play. Even having one of them has it not being used most of the time.
I agree with the "it would be neat if it rumbles", but the whole rumble factor is less neat when it screws with a whole system than when it just screws with a controller...

I have this thing for the fat PSP, it's cool for the first few minutes, but gets really uncomfortable after a while at least for rather small hands. Somehow it cuts the blood flow and your hands "fall asleep" (don't know how to say it in english).
Conclusion: Avoid at all costs.

I have one for my phat psp. However the one i have is from nyko and it has a built in batter in it. i can play my psp for 8hrs str8 with the combine battery power. It is great. I only use it at the house. Who takes their psp outside so it can be snatched. On the real though check out nykos psp grip it looks just like this one just has the extra battery. i wonder if i can make a pandora battery out of it hmmmmm.

@Kyle81: I would imagine the look of just a PlayStation controller plugged straight into a TV would actually look neat for home play. Neat in terms of it being a lower powered very small one controller console, almost.

Slim fits fine in my jacket. This is a good idea for playing at home with the PSP connected to the telly. But the grip looks too large and thick for my palms though...

@kingdavid73: If you sold it a few years ago, then it would have been a Phat and you couldn't use it for this majigger.
That said, I'd be interested in getting one if it looked a little better and was actually comfortable.
