come on guys! this is just another color and if you don't like it, don't buy it! it's not like they're phasing out the older colors, plus it's japan only! - still a long time before it'll go abroad unless you import it!

as for the sixaxis, I have no problem with it and as much as me too really want a DS3, I kind a like the default sixaxis for it's lightness and battery life! maybe it's still not the time to bundle it in and I don't think it's a rip-off to customers. it's the same for every console. you want more, spend more! I don't think 360 or wii are any better in terms of accessories! remember that the ps3 is just over a year old and I believe that time will come!

I also think it's a good choice not to put component or HDMI as defult because that is more like forcing people to buy HDTV. not everybody has one but hey, even on SDTV the graphics are great, waaay better and crispier than the ps2's. I don't have a HDTV myself but I've enjoyed my time with my ps3 with a lot of games! I'll get one HDTV soon. it's all about choice people! I know there are a lot out there still playing their ps3 or 360 on very old SDTV. not everybody can spend too much at one time because not everybody is rich but gaming is for everybody! let's all enjoy it!!

this is a dick move by sony. i know they've got truckloads of sixaxis controllers to get rid of (seeing as they extremely overestimated the demand for the PS3 to begin with), but it's not our fault that the original controllers didn't come with rumble. it's their own fault for being stubborn and refusing to settle the lawsuit for years.

My guess is they made this version a few months ago, decided not to launch it, and still have a ton of SIXAXIS controllers left over OR they were planning on selling different colored controllers, but then the Dual Shock came so they needed away to get rid of the silver controllers so they made a silver system to help get rid of them.

It's still timely. Production costs should have dropped by now, to a point where they are making a bit of profit. The 360, which includes any type of cable you could want other than VGA, has proven to be a serious contender. It seems like PS3 might want to rethink packaging only the crappiest of cables with their console that is supposed to be the "superior" one of the bunch.

Yes, a different color is a different SKU. If you were to go online and order a PS3 in a particular color, how do you think that store keeps track of what they have, so they know which box to send you? This is what SKU means.

And it's another reason why we shouldn't use the term. Unless you're going to use it the way retailers use it - which means different SKU numbers for every single different package - then it's best not to use it at all. Otherwise, you're just going to confuse yourself.

Sony has only ONE PS3 model on the market in Japan and Europe, with multiple colours available for the former country. The 80GB is on its way out here as well. Sure it'll be replaced with something else, but that's only 2 SKUs.

@ssjmichael: I still feel burnt about my non-black Wii. The blue light on black would match every other piece of electronics in my room. Instead it's a sore thumb, but at least it's small cute and easy to put in a small, but well ventilated area. As for PS3, I'm happy with the one I got because it matches everything else. I don't expect many colors to make it out of Japan. Remember PS2? It came in any color you could want in Japan; I don't remember many surviving the swim to NA though.

for how long have you been using your ps3?? you should've known straight away that the sixaxis controllers are charged via USB cable and I think 1 usb cable is included in retail boxes. you will need to plug in your sixaxis to the ps3 or any other USB port to recharge it! once you connect it, the LED will blink and once it's full, it'll stop blinking. I've always recharged mine using my laptop when my ps3 is off.
