No Doubt About Guitar Hero III
Posted by Mike Fahey at 4:20 AM on February 29, 2008
Finally I get to post a giant picture of Gwen Stefani's face! Activision has just released a track pack featuring songs from No Doubt's diamond-selling album, Tragic Kingdom. The three songs, as originally performed by Gwen and crew, are "Don't Speak", "Excuse Me Mr.", and "Sunday Morning". Not exactly my favorites. Personally I would have preferred to see "Spiderwebs" up there, but I suppose it doesn't really lend itself to the game. Still, giant Gwen Stefani face! That's worth something, right? The pack is available right now via Xbox Live for 500 Microsoft points and should be up shortly on PSN for whatever that translates to in real money.

As soon as I heard that ND (and not just any ND, but Tragic fucking Kingdom) was making an appearance, I broke down and wept. Because I live on the Old Continent and have yet to get Rock Band, and Activision has managed to hit me at my weakest point (first concert, amongst...other firsts) I may actually cave in and buy this...as soon as my guitars get back from the shop.

@Capp: Yeah, I feel the same way. GHIII has a few decent tracks, but they really need some classics. I figure the really stuff just can't get licensed. But then again, Rock Band seems to have no problem getting quality tracks. What bothers me the most is how they get decent artists but then they don't pick the track they know everyone wants.
I would pay good money if activision wants to do a guitar hero with some *real* ska (the specials, the selector. etc.) or even some newer poppy stuff like the might mighty bosstones. Some good skate punk (pennywise, nofx, face-to-face, newer stuff on victory records, etc,) or some hardcore tracks would be appreciated too. And where the hell is Offspring? Please Activision, I want some "come out and play" action. Come on, who the hell wants the Aerosmith expansion? Seriously.

Ska Poser music? I haven't heard anyone talk like that since middle school... and that was in 1997! (and it's not for lack of trying.. I've been in a Ska band for the past 5 years)
But some ska in tracks would make me actually buy guitar hero..
how about some ska songs in rock band?
We could get some Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, The Hippos, Suicide Machines! I could go on forever.
That would rock so hard.

Ouch....I seriously hope that NONE of this lame Ska poser music comes to Rockband. No Doubt? Seriously? I mean Who listens to a No Doubt song and thinks...GUITAR HERO!!! YEAH!....
On second though I do see why it would make sense on rockband...its a party game and you want music that everyone can enjoy...but why the F is this on Guitar Hero....the guitar parts are so LAME!!!!
I'm glad I didn't buy GH3 and have to be stuck with uber lame offerings like this.

I had a hell of a crush on her back in her No Doubt days. I listened to every song on Tragic Kingdom and knew just about every word.
I even wrote her a fan letter once about how much I really liked her.
Then I threw it out before I sent it, because I thought to myself, 'What are my chances with a girl like her?'
Or maybe it was just because it seemed a little creepy, like 'I'm stalking you and watching you right now through your window while touching myself' creepy.

Oh, And Gwen is gorgeous from the chin up. Her body is built like a surf board: Flat on front and back and no curves on the sides. Its like looking at a 9 year old with a models' head stuck on the body.

I have to say WTF!!!!
This is supposed to be Guitar Hero: LEGENDS OF ROCK...so, where are the legends at? There are a couple in the game but they have yet to release a download pack that had a decent band, much less a "Legend".
When I hear Legend, I think of real legends...Hendrix, Doors, The Who, Zeppelin, Metallica, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, etc.. You know, bands that actually influenced the industry and changed the way rock/metal is played. How bout throwing in some simple Guitar Legends, such as malmsteen, Vai, Satriani, beck, wylde etc.. I think they would be appropriate, and definitely better than the crap they have been releasing.
I'm sorry but Velvet Revolver and Foo Fighters are not legends of anything. They have some decent songs, but they are by no means legends.
Now, seeing they are putting a No Doubt song, which isn't even Rock much less a legend, in the game makes me want to just throw my guitar in the trash.
