I bought it to show my GF how to buy from the PSN and it was one of the least expensive offerings. We tried it expecting crap and couldn't quit playing all night. It really is a good game but to difficult in the later levels. The only way to learn what doesn't work is by trial and error and that eats up a lot of time. For $5 it was well worth it just for the levels up to medium.

awesome game. we've been playing it nightly trying to get 100% rainbows. Its extremely hard but addicting. Just now on the medium path.

i downloaded the demo.. its not bad.. i could see the fun of it.. but i don't know that i would rather buy this game instead of say... Super Stardust HD... or something else..

@Calabast: It is a tower defense game, but in Pixel Junk Monsters you can only place Towers on the Tree's located in the map. Some people don't like this aspect, but it adds a lot more to the strategy.

(Okay, so I should have just went and looked it up before asking, and immediately after asking, I went and looked it up. Hehe.)

Anyways, I've never played it, but I hope there'll be some way I can get my hands on a sans-ps3 version someday. Till then, I guess I could look for flash based TD games online...

(When trying to find an old flash one I played once online, I came across a certain towerdefencegames.com. Hehe, I mean, it only has 11 games on it (so far), but I guess that could hold me over for a boring weekend sometime.)

I haven't played this/heard about it. Judging by the picture it looks like a Tower-Defense style game? Am I way off base?

(Cause damn I love those. I barely touched the main game in Warcraft 3, and I've put hundreds of hours into that game.)

Me and a pal played this just about all weekend. And we still didn't get enough perfects to open up the hard path. Tough game, but really really great.

Is it any easier in co-op mode? I haven't tried it yet because I refuse to buy a second PS3 controller until they get the rumble one out.

Another solid hit for PSN. Very easy to pick up and play, and hard to put down.

Would it be possible to include custom soundtracks in the expansion pack, just like Stardust? New levels are great an' all but custom soundtracks would make the game just that much sweeter.

@Witzbold: It's better than cool... it's the kind of intuitive design and balanced gameplay you usually only get when Nintendo takes on a genre..

It definitely one of my favourite games on the generation. My gf and I completed the game in co-op and I cant wait to tell her more levels are coming!

I'm not surprised the game is so hard though, after Pixel Junk Racers. It was also insanely difficult to get the "perfects" in Racers.

This is great news! I hope the expansion has a mixed difficulty of levels though and just not harder ones... Some new types of Towers would be cool too!

For those of you having trouble with some of the levels, there are tutorials on youtube that show you have to beat some of the levels. They help if your stuck on 1 level.

@NeoAkira: It's a fantastic game, simple, yet the later levels become extremely challenging and require a lot of strategy. For the amount of good games coming out this year, and those already out, and some of the fantastic offerings on the PSN, I'd really suggest you get a PS3 if you were even slightly interested. It's definetly worth it.

@NeoAkira: I had a friend over to play some games (Gears, Crackdown, Warhawk ect) and we spent allot of our time playing Monsters. Well worth a look if you ever pick up a PS3, plus its so cheap.

Great news, I really enjoyed this game and the co-op was great fun. Good value for €5 and I'd pay another €5 for more maps.

Cool game, but it needs custom music and online coop.

I beat this game with every rainbow in one week. The trick is to get the running mod, then the mine mod and then the lightning mod.

Oh, and don't stick to any one strategy, because sometimes bees are enough anti-air sometimes times you HAVE to use mortar cannons on bosses ( there are several maps where you have to SELL everything and buy last minute mortars for the end bosses ) and don't be afraid to use mines!

I just played the level, and found the best spot for each tower and after that it was easy.

In the expansion, I'd like to see a competitive 4 player mode =D
