Waste Money On Wow? Waste It On This WoW Drink
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 11:30 PM on February 4, 2008
You already spend too much money and time playing World of Warcraft. So you may as well go all-out and endanger your health while you're at it. The Mana Energy Potion, an unlicensed "supplement" drink, looks like it's designed to do two things. One is cash in on WoW and make some money. The other? Kill you. Despite coming in at only 40ml, just one Mana drink is the equivalent of two Red Bulls or four cups of coffee. Those worried about their daily Vitamin B12 intake will also be chuffed to know it contains 6667% of your recommended daily intake.

To add to Parapraxis's comment, the fat-solubility of Vitamins A, D, E and K can be toxic to the human body is the reason why they're much more likely to be toxic when consumed in excessive doses. Since fat-soluble vitamins ultimately wind up in the liver to be processed, megadoses of retinol (vitamin A), for example, may overwhelm liver capacity and enter the circulatory system.
While it's not common, there have been deaths attributed to overdosing on vitamins. Famously, Xavier Mertz, an Antarctic explorer, died after eating sled dog liver which contained toxic levels of retinol.

Vitamins A,D,E, and K are the most common fat soluble vitamins. Meaning, they are the ones that can be stored in the body for later use (usually in the liver).
On the other hand, Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, meaning you can only utilize a certain amount before it gets evacuated by the kidneys into the urine. Does that mean you can't have megadoses of vitamin C? Of course you can, but it's really difficult (Something like 10x6 order of magnitude to get some really crazy side effects.)
Vitamin B12 (or cobalamin, if you want to be all smartey-pants), in contrast, actually requires a specific protein (Intrinsic Factor) from the stomach to act as a co-transport to absorb across the intestinal epithelium. If there isn't enough intrinsic factor, not all of the B12 you take will be "escorted" into your body.
So, with this drink, 6667% of your B12 sounds like a lot, but really, the effective net concentration is only a fraction that (I'd say about 10%, barring any complications like achlorhydria from chronic alcohol intake).
And if you're wondering, one of B12's main roles in the body is the methylation reaction that turns uracil into thymine. It's good for DNA synthesis.
Sorry if it took too long to write or read, but hey, the more you know, you know?

Should it happen, they'd have HELL of a redesign job on the hand, as there is really too much ranged characters in starcraft compared to warcraft. But on the other hand, they can't go and do a world of diablo, since now everyone know that mythos is up, and that it's made by the original diablo dev team. Another Diablo would simply suck coming from blizzard
Back to the subject, this is ridiculous. My friend told me about those, the only price I heard was 500$ for 144 bottles >_> almost a year and a half of energy drinks for him. and I wouldn't touch those drinks, unless they get rated by the proper agency.. never trust something unrated.

These drinks with no sugar and lots of B vitamins are very good when the flavor is there. They provide a ton of energy (as much as your body can hold, the excess B vitamins passes through you).

Actually, 6667% of RDA of B12 doesn't really mean much. You can only absorb and extremely limited amount. That's what you don't take B12 pills, you get B12 in shot form (isn't that right Roger?).
But yeah, this is funny stuff.
