@Onizuka-GTO: Heh, see I was thinking, and correct me as I'm wrong because I haven't seen the original, "correct" version of Macross that you're referring to, that Robotech was a bit more edited and kid-friendly than the original versions. I agree though, its not the "real" thing, I'm aware of the story surrounding that, how its really 3+ series, etc ;)

But yeah, I'm a bit wary of exposing kids to too much Anime too early, lest they become so into it they start seeking out "harder" stuff, like I did as a teen ;)

Everyone in my family I gave Care Bear names. I was Good Luck Bear (though I always called him Clover Bear) and for that reason to this day green is still my favorite color.

Also I named my first dog Grumpy Bear. Which doesn't really make sense.

Damn, Now that Will Wright has outed him self as a Care Bear Fan, I'll join him, loved those cartoons as a kid, and he's right in the sense that there are some pretty fascinating aspects to the whole thing.

@baberg: Its all good man, I plan on being a TV nazi with my kids if I ever have any (No Nick, No Disney, etc), but there will be a wealth of readily available stuff for them to watch, commercial free DVDs and downloads of the cartoons you just mentioned, which with a very few notable exceptions whup the ass of most kid-centered cartoons on today.

Of course my weakness for mecha anime might lead me to slip some Robotech in there as well, we'll see ;)

You can totally make a Care Bear in Spore -- in fact, it was one of the many monster models Will showed us in one of the first detailed video sneak-peeks at Spore last year. Anyone else remember? At the time, I thought nothing of it ("Oh, it's a Care Bear. He probably chose it because it has such a fat head and fat, rounded body"), but now I realize that Will probably had the intention right from the start of finding a way for his newest endeavor to allow him to make an army of Care Bears who could conquer the galaxy.
