Crystal Bearers Not Canned

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers was announced last August. Since then, we have heard much about the Wii Crystal Chronicles game. Too much crystal, perhaps! Here's the lastest update: The game's director Mitsuru Kamiyama points out that development is "proceeding smoothly". Yeah, we know, we know.

Square Enix has a tendency to announce games too far in advance and then put them on the backburner. Neither FFCC:CB nor FFXIII make more than passing appearances on the Square Enix Site, while games announced more recently like Infinite Undiscovery and the Last Remnant have their own sections of the website. We won't be seeing Crystal Bearers or FF13 for some time. FF13 is probably waiting for the install base of the PS3 to grow, but Crystal Bearers is a mystery.

The article is from last June, so unfortunately the current status is still unkown. Personally I think the game isn't coming for quite some time and that they've gone completely mute about it to avoid distracting people from the WiiWare Crystal Chronicles title.

Reading the original quote, something is slightly suspect. The guy says "Development on Ring of Fates and Crystal Bearers is proceeding smoothly."
...hasn't Ring of Fates been out (in Japan at least, which is where this Kamiyama fellow's duty would be being done) since LAST YEAR? Something tells me this is an old post just getting to us now.

Heh, great news. That pic kinda bothers me though. It's like they're laughing at us. "Haha, you have to wait longer, play the WiiWare game in the meantime!"
