Europe Being Courted With Apollo Justice
Posted by Tori Floyd at 5:20 AM on March 7, 2008
For all you Europeans who "objected" to not having Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, fear not. May 9 is the magic day that justice will be delivered and you, too, can have the sequel to the popular Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. You'll be able to judge for yourself whether this game will live up to its predecessor, or if this game is the death sentence of the series (okay, that's not fair, it's meant to be a great game, but there aren't any really good puns for "this game is excellent, you should all go and try it").

Hey i was in Gametraders at Westfield Marion today and they have this game in stock now, aswell as Assasins Creed and YuGiOh World Championship 2008 on DS. Guess they must be importing them from somewhere. They seemed to have a lot of stuff there that wasnt available here yet. I picked myself up Time Crisis 4 on PS3.

I played Apollo Justice and finished it. Awesome game imo but it might be a bit short for some people. I've also noticed that some people disliked Apollo Justice so *shrugs*

We'd like Trials and Tribulations first ;)
Nearly finished my import of Apollo though. And my import of T&T sits on my shelf with pride.

Pretty lame that Phoenix Wright 3 isn't even out here yet. Of course anyone who cares would have imported already anyway, but what are Capcom thinking?
PS Klavier is cool, but he's no Godot!

I'm about halfway through the game, and I must say I'm really enjoying it. Klavier as a prosecutor is actually a refreshing change of pace from the normal "evil-prosecutor-who-hates-you-and-will-do-anything-to-win" that characterized the antagonists from the first three (although I lurved Godot).
Actually, my only objection is that some characters are a little too similar to their PW counterparts. Trucy, for example, is too similar to Maya for my tastes (they even have an almost-identical "determined" look: [www.court-records.net] ). Ah, well, I still prefer Trucy over Maya...so far at least.
In short, get this game when it comes out, Europe! :D

Also imported it already and beat it a few days back. Great game. I thought Klavier Gavin was a fine prosecutor personally. Different from the previous ones sure, but why can't we have a cool character rather than a quirky one once in a while? Oh, and it is wrong that I think Vera Misham is hot?

I miss Edgeworth and his cravat =/
Playing it now, and so far, my only issue is the Judge is incredibly nice to Apollo in this installment (instead of when he basically pegged Phoenix as a troublemaker all the way through from the beginning), which was a weird personality shift for me.
Also, the lack of distinctive and punchy OBJECTION voices was a little disappointing...

@daknight: I have to agree Gavin was just too "cool" for the series. The series has always been about quirky rather than "cool". Both Edgeworth and Fran were quirky in that "I look down on you but always get upstaged by you" schtick. Godot was almost boring but that thing where he looks like it's all good, then spits his coffee out helped keep the quirkyness factor.
The problem with Gavin is he didn't have that outragous outtake.
All in all the characters were a bit lacking. I hope though that in the next game they seperate things into Phoenix to investigate (so we keep the Magatama "psych lock") and Apollo to defend (so we keep that eye thingy).
As this game implied, Phoenix was never great at the whole defending thing and you basically played detective. They can turn that around with the Apollo character.

Apollo Justice took the series in a direction it needed to go. The similarities to the previous games are huge, but they mask some pretty significant differences in the approach - there's a lot less reliance on the paranormal, and a significant rebalancing to put the gameplay in the courtroom more and out "investigating" less. The core characters aren't as charming as before, but the satellite characters include some real keepers.
I'd say it's just as fun as the rest of the series (except the third one, which was brilliant). A good launching point for a second trilogy, hopefully.
So congrats, Europe! BUY IT.

@BTFzor_Freestyle: Nope not at all. Basically it "tricks" the Wii into thinking the disc authentication has already been performed, then it stops spinning. At that point you just eject and swap it out for your import game.

Probably one of my favorite series ever. I did like the new stuff that they brought in but so far (i just started case 3) ive found it a little to easy. Still my favorite Ace Attorney game would have to be the first one.

Think I'll do the same for Brawl and NMH and just go try the Freeloader disc.
Anyone already got a freeloader? How is it?

I love this game (heck I was replaying a case yesterday). What I didn't feel that live up to the past character was the prosecuture. He was cool and all...but I was spoil by Miles, Franciska and Godot, which I love each one (more love for Franciska of course...much more :P). I did enjoy every other character, Apollo was worhty succesor and Tracy was interesting, Emma was another welcome addition that fill in Gumshoe's...well shoes xP
Now the wait for the next Ace Attorney game will be painful :(

I feel a little bad I've had Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney since it's release here in the states and still haven't got around to playing it, while these guy's still have to wait for their chance to play the next chapter in the series.
Unfortunately, with God of War's release, the delay might be even longer. Beware the games of March.

@Ichidou: I actually like these characters a lot more.
This was an awesome game; if you're from Europe (and presumably can read English if you're reading this) then you should just import a copy from the US. Totally worth it since the DS is region-free and all... and probably cheaper too with exchange rates the way they are right now.

Doesnt mean anything anyway because the DS is region free! Hurrah! xD
Oh but then again, twice-as-expensive PAL releases are for those knucklehead consumers who just pop in and decide to buy a game based on how pretty the cover is.

You'll have to judge if you object to this game.
You'll have to judge if this game is in contempt of your DS.
You may want to sentence yourself to life with this game.

Working my way through it at the moment. Partway through the third case. It's pretty good. The old cast was better as most have said, but I don't dislike the new people or anything, and the DS specific features, while kind of tacked on, are a welcome addition now they're available for more than a single (albeit great) case like in the first game.
