Far Cry 2 Screens Show Killing, But Also Love
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 3:20 PM on March 8, 2008
As you'd expect from a game that's selling itself on its ability to set loads of things on fire, in these new screens for Ubisoft's Far Cry 2, there's fire. And explosions. Big, murderous explosions. But also love, as a mercenary tries to carry his wounded brother-in-arms to safety, from where he can gently tend to his wounds and slowly, every so slowly, nurse him back to health.

I'll only buy this if I can snuggle him back to health.

Isn't there enough gay jokes going around the FPS scene without adding to it?
I look forward to the day when "U R GHEY" is the new "Gnarly totally radical". Maybe parents need to start saying it to make it uncool.

Cripes on toast, didn't you people play Crysis? Those screens aren't doctored.
Every preview, I get more excited about the possibilities in Far Cry 2. Loved the first one, but this one will undoubtedly change the genre for good.

I and the entire readership of GayGamer are, no doubt, waiting for this game, so that we can all gently tend to his wounds and slowly, every so slowly, nurse him back to health.
Again, and again, and again.

Those railroad tracks are huge.
Still, if this means you can actually use people as sniper bait, this game will rock

I think its a nice gameplay mechanic. Simply wounding someone and then walking on, maybe to save ammunition could be interesting. You could just pop one in his head though.

That lead screen was in in Edge about 2 months ago. It paints a little moral question, you've wounded a guy, and his ally is trying to move him to safety. Do you kill the guy who is of no threat to you whatsoever? It's a small touch, but quite clever nonetheless.

Skynet will be required to run this game.
And the enslavery of humanity.
;D
Will be looking foward to some real gameplay footage for this game though on a more serious note.

@NfoRcErX: This is all true, but then what if this fellow in question has the persistence of that one knight in monty python? He would find that sniper...and bite him to death. Not exactly a warrior's death. But then again, I'm also getting completely off topic. Sorry.

I still can't figure out why people in 'next generation' games are so god damned shiny. Do they all gather together in the rendering room and pour copious amounts of oil on each other? Seriously, what the hell?

Sigh. Novices.
@TheDollHouse: "Finishing the job" is mercy killing. Better to let him suffer with the least amount of force so that by the end he'll be begging to die, but you won't let him have his release.
@Rockwallaby: That seems like a game or pastime. You could do that anytime you want to with anybody and a field. This is an opportunity to really dig into their mind and slowly break it.
@NfoRcErX: The more gunshot wounds they have, the better chance they have of bleeding out. You don't want that. Plus, what's fair in murder?
*note: this is just a lighthearted talk on homicide. This in no way is meant to represent the commenters or the editors Kotaku. None of us would hopefully actually ever commit these acts on any person living or dead (for practice). Should this be used against us in any court of law, we'll just blame it on videogames and get away scott free anyway. Oh, and hello Mr. Thompson.

That's not fair... you should shoot the guy carrying someone in the knee... then his other knee... then both elbows... so they are stuck there with no where to go and no way to move. Then set up a video and timelapse it for the next planet earth :D.

@TheDollHouse: No! I think it's far more cruel to take out the carrier, that way the guy on his shoulders will think he just might make it out, but oh no, bam, he drops to the ground with nowhere to go. I would probably then leave him to fend for himself with no way to move or defend himself while I watch from a distance.
Too far?

Nice to see Ubi are at least trying some different things assassins creed was OK & if some of the ideas they have planned for this pan out it could be interesting.
Have any other shooters been set in the savannas of Africa? I'm guessing there will be no cover system.
