Forza 2 DLC Brings a Baker's Dozen New Cars This Week
Posted by Brian Crecente at 7:00 AM on March 18, 2008
The new March car pack for Forza 2 hits later this week. On March 19 Forza-heads can pay 400 points to get 13 new vehicles including the new Audi S5 and the 2008 BMW M3. Also included is the Lamborghini LP640 and the Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
To help promote the game the developers will be holding a little in-game competition this weekend and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Xbox Live will be randomly giving away prizes, including a racing wheel and autographed copy of the game, to people who play the game.
Hit the jump to check out a gallery of the new cars and the full list.

Photo-mode FTW.
Love the Ferrari's included in the pack. We need an GTO Evolutione.

Simply amazing car pack this. What wasn't available in the game a year ago, is now all there. There isn't a single Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari left you could ask for. Every iteration of the BMW M3 is there and Audi rooster is equally impressive.
I do however think that the F40 Competizione, MC12 Corsa and Peugeot could've been changed to something else. The new WRX STI, GT-R R35, Mercedes C63 AMG, DTM-AMG or E190 EVO II.
Well anyway, the majority of the cars are awesome, and T10 really knows which cars that fit in the game's context. Thanks for another great DLC, T10!

Forza is absolutely awesome, but I have two gripes - why'd they lose point-to-point (my favorite) and Rio de Janiero?!?!?!

@0x15e:
To each his own (no, really...) When my friends got Forza 1 they were all using the guide line that showed proper position and speed and I wondered "ok, why not just watch a demo mode instead?" and I could never stand the engine sounds in Forza 1 or 2, but when I played briefly it handled fairly well. I can see how if online meant a lot to someone they would drop GT for Forza. (and I wish I could do F2 online myself...)
What I meant by inconsistency is that I found often in GT4 you could fix the camera to one part of the car, but others would be moving differently relative to it and still blur a bit, but I don't see that at all on any pics here. Also, the way that on pavement the blur is smooth, except when it gets near the camera and appears to copy+paste the same image in strips like in the title image. The same pattern just starts repeating. For the latter one I'd have to double-check GT4 to make sure it doesn't do it too though - definitely not as much.

I played the hell out of this game when it was launched for a couple of months, then it gathered dust. Then I discovered the online community, the tune teams, the 'celeb' drivers who nailed every track and the whole immersive culture that's built up around it all, and was hooked for ages until January this year where I fazed out.
This DLC pack will proberbly result in me getting into it all over again. I had a few Top 100 times that have no doubt been pushed past the 500 mark.

@fuchikoma: Yes, these look like the in-game photo mode. All that "inconsistency" is user-settable. Just like a real camera, it's possible to completely get the shutter speed, aperture, etc. wrong.
I agree that they slacked on the antialiasing. I really liked how GT4 would take advantage of the fact that it wasn't a realtime render to do things like that. It's just a shame I couldn't stand the entire rest of GT4. :/

How long do I have to wait until they make the Geo Metro available for download?!

New M3, and the Audi S5? Man, I regret getting rid of this game, kinda. Not really, but every car pack they release always has a few cars that make me wish I hadn't got rid of it. And then that feeling passes a few seconds later.

Call me when they release a Open-Wheel car pack. Really, that's one of the reasons why I always liked the GT series; the F1-style cars were so much fun in the GT series. I'm shocked that there still aren't any open-wheel cars in Forza 2.
That's the primary reason why I stopped playing Forza 2 about 6 months ago (I played GT3 and 4 for over a year in comparison).

@Dir_en_grey: Humm...500+ bucks, maybe I'll just go buy a beater MT car and drive it around my local dragways.
Thanks for all the links though! If I do opt to get GT5, might as well go balls to the wall with it.

This new pack of cars is nice and all but 400 points is too steep (needs a new track...what happened to the uphill/downhill one-way runs that were in the original Forza?). Also, Turn 10 needs to find a way for me to get back all of my lap times that they decided to erase. I'm all for punishing the people who cheated their way into getting low lap times but erasing legitimate scores was not a good way to handle it.

@Setzer IIDX:
Logitech G25 wheelis the only one that has clutch, works on PS3 and PC but not on 360 =/
Playseat Evo is the best deal for seats IMO and it's the only version they offer that has an add on to mount the separate Stick Shift Unit.
Playseat Evo:
G25 Wheel (Only for PC and PS3, best gaming wheel out so far):
Buttkicker Gamer (To rumble your seat, mounts on Playseat Evo with a little mod, works on everything with audio output):
$500 + setup, worth it if you are rich. If you are rich though, there are better seats and better Buttkicker setups, but the wheel is the best either way.

I must say, the price is not bad for the amount of cars you get. For a Forza enthusiast, it's not bad.
I'm bummed about no new WRX, as Blanku said; but the new EVO will make up for it.
I'd like to see more tracks though, as duckmouth had commented.

Ahhh, Forza! Awesome simulation; the best there is! They just forgot the fun.
If there's one game I totally regret buying, I'd say Forza 2 is it. I've had more fun clipping my toe-nails.

Are these taken in some kind of in-game photo mode?
I like the glowing brake discs. The trackside textures on signs and the like seem nice and sharp. The motion blur is inconsistent (and seems to either affect a car or not 100%) and at times pretty rough and repetetive looking on the road, and aliasing jaggies are through the roof.
...just to compare with GT4 photo mode...

@Setzer IIDX: alas no [on the 360]
you get gas and brake:
"gas, brake, honk! gas, brake, honk!
honk! honk! punch, gas, gas, gas. "

@duckmouth: Personally, I agree, but I see the value in a company releasing new cars at a premium rate for those of us who play nothing but racers.

Under no circumstances would duckmouth pay for extra cars for a game. Tracks yes, cars NO

Do the gaming racing seats have Clutch pedals as well as Gas and Brake pedals?
I'm asking more for GT5, but this seems appropriate enough.

Nice, but I wish they would add the extra 250 to it's achievements already. My friend is dying to see them show up at some point.

For all the 360 games that are ported to PC, this is the one I've always wanted the most.

2008 BMW M3? Hot. I look forward to getting back into this game whenever I get a new 360.
