I was really surprised at how big patisseries were in Tokyo when I was there last month for work. In the middle of my trip I found out that it is one of the best places outside of Paris for pastries, chocolates, gourmet desserts, anything like that. They even have Pierre Hermes over there. I have a really bad sweet tooth so it wasn't a bad surprise at all.

Hey, Koreans do white day too. I didn't know it had Japanese origins, although I'm not sure how many Koreans are ready to admit that. Either way, I don't care. Unfortunately, living here in the States doesn't grant ME any gifts from my woman. I always get the line, "Isn't my love enough?" How can I say no?

I guess Valentines Day in Japan is a little reversed in Japan, because it seems the women play a greater role in the giving, where in the US a lot is put on the guy to do something special for his lady. I was going to make cheesecake for my husband on Valentine's Day, but he ended up being really sick and couldn't taste anything, so I delayed it till after his taste buds were working properly again.

White chocolate is tastes kind of meh to me. It's way too sweet. Milk chocolate though... are great, especially with rice crispies/malt, *melt*.

Buy a whole bunch of little white chocolate things and sort of make a trail throughout your home. Give her a basket to collect the candy. Just make sure there's a nice gift waiting at the end :)

Same here. I always hated the idea that Valentine's Day is only for men. I ALWAYS got presents for my women. Generally their female friends were jealous, and their male friends were irked or even offended. In fact there was one time that I met my then girlfriend (now wife) at her office on Valentine's day with a bouquet of flowers and one of the guys from her office started cursing me out! At first I was like 'wtf?', then I calmly asked him when the last time her had a real girlfriend was, and walked off with my lady.

There are supposed to be 2 kinds of chocolates in saint valentine's day, friend chocolate (cheap) person you like chocolate (more expensive, or even really expensive)
I just bought 3 nice ones for the girls/women who gave me the good chocolate, and then a bag of chocolate heart shaped things that i gave to every girl i met in the school i'm studying.
they where tomo-choco (friend-chocolates) but some people said i was trying to get as many girlfriends as possible or something. :(
i'm just a nice guy trying to make people happy.

I don't celebrate White Day. I got my fiancee chocolate on Valentine's Day instead. She was quite happy but it really miffed her co-workers. They just couldn't understand why she, a woman, would receive a gift on a holiday for men. What is this world coming to?

Surprise the lady! It doesn't take much at all to make a woman happy. Harvest Moon taught me how to date, and it was completely accurate. Give them gifts for no reason, and always go up to them and talk, but never actually say anything, just let them talk.

Women like flowers, it's a great default setting for gifting, even more if it has been a while since any were offered. Flowers are a good bet since they serve no actual purpose. But a gamer girl would prefer a white DualShock3 controller. That's what I gave her for Christmas.
