I'm not saying the Venom suit wasn't vulnerable to sonic waves, in fact the bell scene was taken straight from the comics. It just wasn't ludicrously weak to sonic vibrations, a la the movie.

i agree the low sonic vibrations from the bars clanging are a stretch but it worked well for me.

this is a pretty terrible looking game. the animations are incredibly choppy. i can see the potential for a good iron man game but it'd have to be unrelated to the movie with armor build up ala super metroid or megaman X. now THAT i'd pay to play!

@hastyp: Totally agree. I've gotten to the point where I go to the Dashboard first (have it for 360) and start my Music before I even load the game, because even though I like G&R I'm tired of hearing it every time I load the game.

I hope this game isn't like Burnout:Paradise where I'm forced to listen to Guns and Roses for two minutes everytime I start the game. If they do that with Iron Man I don't think I'll like it. Sometimes I want to play Burnout but I'm like...not that song again!!!!

@elsilento: The "not enough time" argument doesn't hold up when the movie is so full of wasted time. There was a flippin' dance number, fer crissake. Who should I blame for THAT particular trainwreck.

Especially when the point of the suit was increased aggression and anger, and the movie suit mostly caused emo outbreaks.

Plus, the Venom suit was never that sensitive to noise that it goes nuts at a bar clanging. If a movie-maker is going to deviate from the source material, why would he err on the side of anticlimactic and entirely lame. Seriously, what kind of super villain could be completely neutralized by a baby crying, or street-noise in New York City. Heck, fire a gun. Doesn't matter if you miss, he'll still be down.

Iron Man looked silly in the beginning just standing there shooting in a standard rhythm, holding his arm out straight and completely still. Nearer to the end of the trailer it showed him in more dynamic shots though, so I ended off feeling like it could be okay.

I don't really care much for the Iron Man comic, not because of any ill will towards it but simply because I've never been a comic guy, but I love Black Sabbath so much that I'd go see basically any movie that has a chance of having a Sabbath song in it -- and Iron Man, the first Sabbath song I learned? Hell yes. Doesn't hurt that the movie looks cool, either ;)

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all that too. I'd still like to see a decent Venom and Carnage movie. They would definitely be worth it if it were done right.

My biggest issue with Topher Grace is that he looks like Peter Parker more than Eddie Brock who obviously was much larger since he was a body builder. I guess he could have been better, but he really just doesn't fit the role imho.

I actually thought Topher Grace did a good job with what he was given. And could have made a GREAT Venom, if he had been given some room to do his thing.

The problem was that the studio wanted a Venom movie (fan favorite,) Same Rammi wanted a Sandman movie (his personal favorite anti-hero,) and of course they still had to wrap up the Harry Osborn/Hobgoblin storyline. To many cooks ruin the broth, as they say.

To add to this chaos, you can't just have Venom. You have to tell his origins with the Black Suit and Peter's struggle against it.

If they'd taken one of the two between Venom and Sandman, it would have been an awesome film. Could have had more time to wrap up the Harry storyline without the contrived amnesia and the random reveal from Mr. Super-Butler (why didn't he hell him that shit YEARS ago!?), and still had time to let Venom run wild and be scary, or let you actually care about Sandman and his motivations.

But Toby and Dunst both said they weren't coming back for a third, so Rammi had to stuff everything in the final, causing the train wreck we saw unfold in what was the gold standard of comic book movies.

I have higher hopes for this movie than the last Spidey flick. Eric from that 70s show was one of the worst choices they could have had for Venom. If anything he looks more like Spiderman. Who is behind the 'cardboard' in this film anyway?

I mean, it could be completely awful, with parts that become shooters on rails instead of free flying, and it could be terribly level based rather than free roaming (a must in superhero games for me.)

However, it could be the complete awesomeness that was "Hulk: Ultimate Destruction." Now THAT'S how you do a superhero game.
