Meet The Amazing Nintendo Wii
Finally, a Wii commercial with a realistic pitch. This ad's part of a Worth1000 run going at the moment for old-school advertisement, and some of the video game ones - for the PS3, Xbox and Xbox Live, among others - are just great. Highlights in the gallery, more Photoshop shenanigans at the link below.

Is Kotaku eating comments again?
I has just posted about how much this reminds me that I miss my 2600. I mean, come on! They should have really pushed it for its best feature: "Does your system have simulated wood panelling?"
For you youngins that don't remember the 70's, that stuff was everywhere. Think about it: Atari dominated the first console wars, maybe thanks to the wood panelling...

These are pretty badly done...

@KM91: It is. It originally said
"We Can Do It!" and it was for the home front. Specifically it was for recruiting potential women war workers.

These are really fun. Kudos to the person that has enough time on their hands to get create such things.

They are all great, but I like the PS3 ad the most. Never seen a family so happy over a "Game Over" screen before.

The influence of Bioshock spreads far and wide.

Only the first and last facts on the Wii one are true. OH wait does it actually output to color TV?

Somehow these ads make me feel more inclined to buy the products, even though they're fake ads, theres something about the old fashioned "hey were going to pretend(kinda) that we don't know how to advertise" way that comes through in these ads, now every damn ad you see is EXACTLY THE SAME of course that makes it much easier to mentally block them out w/o even a single glance at it, but thats not really effective advertising now is it?

What next, a Bayeux Tapistry Game Boy? LOLeth.

I've seen that "you'll get beaten by a girl" picture before. It was a WWII ad, I think.

I see the PS3 graphics are improving too! ;)

Ha! Good stuff. I just became aware of worth1000 like a month ago when my Comp Graph 1 class had to make cyborgs and our prof directed us to that site to check out the kind of stuff people had made.
In any case, I'm really liking that old-timey look. Looking at them has given me a few ideas for a project I'm working on right now :).

Wow, these are too awesome. Ha! Each one kinda embodies what the console is all about really. The Wii one is my fav, I think.

That's some solid Photoshop work on the Wii and the Xbox ads (I should know, I used to do nothing but Photoshopping for a living). Good attention to detail, nice font choice, excellent faux-aging. Better than most PS contests, I'd say.
A modest dose of Photo-Shoppe does wonders for the complexion! Try some to-day!

extra points for using the word shenanigans

@sariah: everything is better sideways. like the nokia n-gage. thats why all three current consoles allow sideways orientation. marketing would be ten times harder without a sleek, modern, sideways presentation, regardless of impact on hardware longevity. you think im joking.
my consoles lie down.

@RuneX:
I guess you got a point there, but for me being a kid born in the 16 bit generation of gaming, I couldn't really understand how it felt during those days... but nowadays its a version that only exists for nostalgia.

@QuickPick:
I definitely agree. That's, by far, the best ad ever.
A sideways Atari.

@icepick314: :(
they are like 7 years old...
=O
These are great! I love the old timey slogans.
"Own a Playstation and you know you own the best."
(Hope I did that Tag Right)

I have many fond memories of the atari 2600 version of pacman. Not sure I would really go around calling it crap, as it was an extremely fun game. The arcade game required...an arcade, something that kind of ruined the fun of the game back in the olden days.(nothing worse than being stuck around a bunch of fat smelly nerds who think they are gods for memorizing patterns)
Anyways, all these ads were pretty cool. I think they all touch on certian stereotypical aspects of the people that follow the consoles.

I think that was done on purpose. ;P
These are pretty cool ads, I gotta say.
BPM X: Soul Eraser
"Best games available"? Is that a joke?
kojirodensetsu
Who ever made that Atari one failed on ONE thing. He's showing the arcade version of Pac-Man, not the craptastic 2600 version. What an awesome way to trick customers (again). He saddens me.

"More FUN than the Wii, PS3 and XBOX360 for less price..."
I lol'd at that.

another thing...
need to cut down on hentai...
i'm getting dirty thoughts looking at that Wii ad....
icepick314
wow!!!
actually used "swell" in a normal sentence..

"Homework first - Playstation second"
Awesome!
H2oGatesy
Side way atari, if we only knew then :(

I'm obsessed with old-timey things, so this is right up my alley.

Thats the reason i dont own a 360 an inferiority complex uh-huh thats it, and the Playstation one is so convincing :D
