Nintendo DS Notepad Mod Accepts Pencils, Doodles
Posted by Mark Wilson at 8:40 AM on March 4, 2008
In what must be the laziest mod ever created by man, Instructables has posted a 7-step process on how to make your Nintendo DS into a notepad ripe for penciling notes. How they got to 7 steps we're not quite sure, since all you do is cover the case in Scotch Magic Tape. From there, you can safely write on the surface and even erase and start over.
To us, it seems like a simple, non-committal way to decorate the handheld however you'd like. In other words, the first person to scribble "the cake is a lie" all over their DS will rule the internet for precisely 2 minutes and 5 seconds. Pointing fish also come highly recommended.

I'd feel bad for the people who messed up on Step 5 with the exacto. But I think rubbing the air bubbles really is important!

2 min and 5 secs is about 2 minutes longer than it will take for that for that person to accidentally wipe it off.

Just write the cake is a lie on your DS? I've wrote the phrase on desks all over the school! YOU CAN'T DEFEAT ME!

Now that good sire, is comedy!
I was having a bit of trouble figuring out what you were saying. I didn't know if I was being sniped, if you were talking about something else, or what.
But now I have your number. And I'll be sure to call.

@ChiltonGaines:
Step 1: You cut a hole in the box.
Step 2: You put your junk in that box.
Step 3: You make her open the box.
That's the way you do it!

@Kaemon:
Might be kind of pointless to do (I'm not saying this post is stupid, irrelevant, etc.) but why not? It's fun, eh?
What else is their to stave off the boredom of HS anyway?

this would only look good if you had a ds lite >.>.... I might just end up sticking a pad of sticky notes to my ds... even better just sticking the sticky note right on it XD

This reminds me of a rant that I haven't given much thought to in the last year or so:
Why did Pictochat remain a strictly local wireless application? I'm certain that I'm not the only one interested in seeing a more fully fledged rendition of the software integrated into some sort of overall online infrastructure across the Nintendo consoles, but that's most certainly a pipe dream. If Nintendo has taught me one thing, it's that they don't particularly for online and the collective fuckwittery of the droves of pedophiles therein.

Uh-huh...
Thats stupid.
I mean, I remember back in 9th grade, because the teacher got ticked off so much by people writing on the desks, I got really clear tape, and since the desks were shiny, I was able to write on the tape and it didn't look like tape... never did this on my own desk... but the empty ones.
Man, childhood was boring.

course, this is only handy if you have a white or pink DS, or metallic pens.
i'd rather have a mod that lets you save notes in memory. lots easier than keeping a pad around for a grocery list or uploading address directions onto my ipod.

Looking at the directions, "Step 2" is the only one that is an actual "step" towards creating this mod.
I have an even better, 0 step way to mod the DS into a notepad.
Just...write on your DS!

Okay, it's not amazingly complicated...but I can see it could be sorta handy? Although whenever I have my DS, I usually have other writing materials on-hand anyway...

2 minutes 5 seconds?
It's a new record!
But seriously... tape? I thought it would be something more elaborate, or useful. I'll stick with a notebook.

People need 7 steps to tell them how to tape paper onto their handheld?
