Proof Xbox LIVE Can Get You Pregnant
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 5:00 PM on March 18, 2008
Best to let Xbox LIVE player Stacy explain what the hell's going on:
I just thought you might be interested to know that Mike and I met playing Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Lockdown. Funny thing is, we hated each other at first, but somehow ended up falling in love. I was from Georgia and he was from the Bronx. On a leap of faith we met, and we have been together ever since. If it wasn't for Xbox LIVE, our paths would have never crossed. :) We had our daughter--who we thought to be the first Xbox LIVE baby--on September 24, 2007. Maybe she's the first Xbox 360 baby, at least... I AM SO THANKFUL FOR XBOX AND THE ONLINE COMMUNITY! If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have the man of my dreams and a beautiful new baby!Congrats! Now Stacy, get your kid off the Xbox 360. Those things get hot.

Hate filled? I don't give a shit about the baby, the baby is not the issue. The issue is that MS obviously caught wind of this story and bribed the couple to use it as a propaganda piece, and by the looks of it, it worked!

@Cell9song: nothings awful about it, but at the same time, whats so special about it!? i question the reasoning behind her doing this, its a nice enough story but becomes sour in some peoples eyes because it seems quite plausible shes basically trying to get free stuff out of MS. what else has made her feel the need to email them broadcasting this amazing news!..what does she want? a medal? yes, you met someone and started a relationship while doing fun activity you both enjoy doing, what a revelation!!
you know another activity people also enjoy doing? going out getting drunk and dancing around in clubs on saturday nights!! next you'll be telling me people form relationships after meeting up doing that aswell! :P
seriously tho, this woman may be onto something. i met my girlfriend in a shop, im off to email their website telling them that in the hope i get sent free stuff too ;)

@Reneg: hey you can spin my comment however you want to try but my point stands that there are very few people on LIVE with a certain level of maturity. I mean, it's good for them and I'm happy it worked out. All I am saying is that I personally can't handle way over competitive people and their insationable need to swear use derogatory terms. I know for a fact there are several good people on LIVE. The problem is that the bad to good ratio is way out of whack.

congrats to the couple and their kid, but i seriously doubt this is the first baby born as a result of xbox live. people meet through games all the time, they just don't get publicity like this.
the amount of cynicism in this thread is disheartening and kind of surprising. we're gamers, what's so strange about meeting a potential life partner during one of our biggest hobbies? sure, the distance sucks, but making it work is not impossible. besides, you can find out a lot about a person by how s/he plays a game than in many other situations.

Maybe Live is a good place to meet women because, if you're not a 13 year old swear-monger, you look pretty damn good.
I know, I know, I should be congratulatory. But I have to admit, there's something that vaguely creeps me out about the situation. @DaiMacculate: Ahh, I understand now. I'm sorry if i came off a bit hostile, there are many sony fanboys out there who usually fight with my reasoning and I mistook you for one. I agree that sony should keep doing at least ok because microsoft needs someone to compete with on the same level, since wii is kind of in a different atmosphere of its own. Oh, and im glad you liked my Zero Wing reference, I thought it would be the best way to end my paragraph, like completely end it without leaving a negitive feel or more like an ending joke :D Anyways we are straying far away from topic and I don't know if thats allowed, so in other news...

@GcRayden: So don't get pissy with me because I made a joke on sony's end, I'm not setting you up the bomb.
Other than the Zero Wing reference, I'm not sure I get you. I was legitimately curious to the source of your anger with Sony, which from your experience sounds justified. I myself only got a PS2 because of Katamari and my unwillingness to wait for the Xbox1 version of GTA: San Andreas, so no Sony fanboy am I ;)
I'm also still on the fence with the PS3, mostly because I continue to question the utility of owning a Blu Ray drive at the moment, when most HD releases are just not worth the money. If all it had going was its gaming, I'd be where I was with the PS2 in 2003, waiting on a game that is compelling enough (to me personally) to sell me the system.
I am kind of rooting for PS3 to continue doing at least OK though, because I fear the consequences if MS is somehow left in sole control of the HD console market.

Posted 11:08 PM 19/3/08
@DaiMacculate: I have had numerious problems with sony, like the fact that my ps2 came without rumble. I tried to get sony to fix it but since the ps2 was still in working condition they wouldn't accept it. Then once my ps2 did break, they offered to fix it for a fee of $120 because it was like 3 days over the warrenty. Most of my ps2 games gave me disc read errors and my ps2 wouldn't read blue disc games, but that problem I had when i first got it too. Then I got the multi-tap, too bad it doesn't work on your ps2 if your rumble is broken. I got the HDD which sony said would be used for all these different games (appearently Final Fantasy XI and their expansions count as different games). After all of this crap happening, I decided just to get a new ps2, which eventually started to go down the same path so I got into ps2 backups / HDD loader as ps2 started dying out. Then the biggest blow to push me over the edge was when the ps3 was announced at $600 and then they have the balls to turn around and say that its our problem if we dont buy it. I might get a ps3 in the future, but after all of that sony is going to have to show me some proof that what they are putting out is worth it because I'll be damned if I have to go through that again. Its not that im a 360 fanboy, im just a hurt gamer trying to find the best system for me, and ps3 has so far killed their chance with me because of their different sku's being constantly downgraded to make the ps3 cheaper. So don't get pissy with me because I made a joke on sony's end, I'm not setting you up the bomb.

My girlfriend has the worst feedback on Xbox live: Like 88% avoid 22% approve, and she talks maybe once a twice a day... usually doesn't even plug in the headset. One female voice, and the friends requests flow though... she had over 50 friends in two days of CoD4. The second she gets online, she'll have four or five messages and a few game invite requests. We just laugh.
Oh, and I met her on WoW, three years ago. We promptly quit right after we met.

One of these again -_- I congratulate them for finding each other, same with the halo 3 in-game "will you marry me?" message but alot of these articles make me jealous because they act like this kind of thing is "new and exciting". I met my girlfriend on THPS4 for Ps2 and we recently just moved in together and are getting married soon and nobody seemed to post an article about us lol. I was a sony fanboy for the longest time and hated the xbox / xbox 360 for years until sony betrayed me. Now I switched to 360 but maybe I should act like I got ps3 and switch my story to meeting on ps3's THPG and be their "Wonderful 1/10 chance, 2 people hook up on ps3 game". That would show them, stupid microsoft and your gloating stories. Oh and btw, the 1/10 chance isnt a typo, I was just guessing around the true number of people who actually play on the playstation network :p

I honestly don't know what happened to him. My brother relayed the story to me 4 months ago when he got off the phone with my cousin's mom (so my aunt). To be honest, I was never close enough to the guy to think about checking up on how the events progressed.

What a heartwarming story to hear of two people who warmed up to each other until their hearts were set aflame into a burning passion for each other thanks to Xbox Live.
I'm amazed, because:
1) The Xbox helped make a baby instead of crush one (as the user manual repeatedly warns against)
2) I can't possibly see this happening based on my experiences with Uno, CoD4, and Halo 3 online voice chat, unless you have a soft spot in your heart for 13-15 year olds with high voices and mouths that sailors wouldn't dare to piss in.

Incoming Microsoft gifts for Stacy.
...like they did for that kid who's 360 got cleaned of custom artwork.
They're probably gonna get a ton of pampers and games or something.

You all are a bunch of cynical bastards. This is a real next-gen system here, people. Thing's got support for 8000000p resolution, tons of memory, and force feedback, all standard.
Congrats, and have a happy lifetime of telling her not to sit too close to the TV.

@Afore Notation: Agreed that the baby is adorable, and some of the mocking in the thread is, let's say, in poor taste.
On the other hand, some of the "negative" comments are reacting less to the birth of this little girl and more to something a little odd about the credit given to the xbox live community. Like Intelsilver said, it's kind of like sending flowers to the gym where you met your mate, and it makes the whole thing feel a little... commercial, I guess.
Not to begrudge this couple their happiness at the birth of their new baby, it's just that the announcement seems a bit strange somehow.
(That, and the coincidence of the birth of the console's "first baby" with the release date of its biggest game makes my Hoax-meter tingle a bit, but stranger things have happened)

@Afore Notation: Seconded. Stacy's explanation was a bit gushy, but I think the comments of "laaame" and whatnot are from those who can't understand why yelling "omg ur a girl be my gf kthxbai" into their headset doesn't work.

Did the 360 community migrate over to this page just to ridicule themselves and this couple? Sure sounds like it, and I am choking on the second hand irony.
I, for one, think--nay, I KNOW this is a beautiful thing.

Wait, September 24, 2007? Is that right?
So the, as they put it, "first Xbox LIVE baby" was born just in time for the parents to get in line for the midnight release of Halo 3?
Eerie.

@IntelSilver: Well said, couldn't have said it better myself. lol
This thing happens a lot in gaming. I remember I once saw on TV about a wife cheating on her husband with a guy she met on EverQuest. Really.. what are the odds?

@Eating_Sushi:
Reminds me of a website that was selling something similar for the PC a long time ago. (Don't know if it was a joke or not) It was called "F-u F-me" I think. If it wasn't a joke, it was funny regardless.

Did the man-juice shoot from the 360 console, remote controller, or the headset?
I'm believing now that Microsoft has a dildo add-on for the ladies and a vagina for the men. Miracously through a new technology called SoIP, we can make e-love along with moaning and groaning through VoIP.
Need to research more.

I really doubt he is much of a "man" if she met him playing on Xbox live. Xbox live is full of kids and adults who act like kids. I've been on live since 2004 and there are only a couple of people that I have ever met that I would be able to tolerate in person.

I think this was a bit of a wake up call to me. Theres not more assholes playing xbox, theres just a general amount like in everyday life. As I'm forcefully shown here, theres an equal amount of good things happening because of the social connections being made.
But really, R6 Lockdown? I hated that game. My dad might love every R6 there is, but I'm just a Vegas man.

@k_dash:
Me too. I don't know why. I think it's the credits they give to Xbox Live or whatever they happen to meet with.
So if I meet my wife in a gym, i have to send flowers and thank you gifts/cards to the gym owner.

@ErskinPig: I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with your comments, but the only thing that is always pathetic is someone who tries to ridicule someone else for the grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. As long as we understand what their getting at, it matters not. This is a blog's comment section, not a course on composition. I've seen several of you're posts and it seems like you just go around trying to start arguments. Everyone has their own opinion and your's is not going to change anyone else's or vise versa.
