Everyone has different tastes, so I encourage anything that keeps selling well in Rock Band as long as they don't get stuck on one type of music too long.
I never could stand one note from that SOAD guy, so Serj is out of the question. Paramore is a chick version of the garbage that floods the airwaves on rock stations, but I somehow like it as a single standout. (They're MUCH better live, without the produced sound.) Black Tide is for all the players who want more Metal, and stands out as a relative unknown.

I'm going to SXSW from Dallas just to see The Pillows.

@jeccaneko: Ahh, good someone else who thinks like me. I'm not a huge rock music buff but my biggest complaint against Guitar Hero 3(other than bad note charts) was the lack of different types of music. It makes me cringe everytime poeple keep asking for more metal.

I play the game with different people who all have different tastes in music so having lots of different types of music really helps the mood.

After seeing all of the complaining on the Rock Band forums yesterday, I'm glad to see all of the comments here, even the ones who don't care for these tracks, are much more reasonable.

I think it's a good idea to have these tracks. Not just because they're cheap, but I like how music games help me discover new music. I don't want to play just songs I already know.

Bloc Party was a SXSW band a couple years back. WHERES BP? Tapes N' Tapes is another SXSW band that IMO is better than their offering. Oh I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm bitching for no reason. I listened to all of the songs. Paramore is laughable, but somebody probably likes that kind of thing. Black Tide could be okay, but I'm not into that kind of new rock. It just sounds generic and lifeless. Finally, although I'd love to see some toxicity tracks, I'm am not into Serj's solo effort all that much. Great deals all around, though - that is, if you like these songs.

Sometimes, I wish I was living in the US instead of the Old World and I had a bigger living room, so I could just walk to the local game store, buy Rock Band, walk home and bang the drums.
That's when reality kicks me in the face, I live in the UK and if I put Rock band in my living room, my flatmates may kill me.

Definitely getting this one, the discounted price is nice and that Paramore song is such a guilty pleasure.

To all who are wondering about Black Tide, they're a very young new metal band with a thrash-throwback type sound (think Trivium's latest CD, or for those less versed in metal, early Metallica with a bit less intensity). They've got a lot of talent (I saw them open at a concert last week), though I think their vocals need some work.

What's kind of funny is that, as a child, Hot Topic was actually scary to me :-P Now it just bores me at best and annoys me at worst.

Still, sometimes I can find CDs there that Best Buy doesn't have in stock, so on occasion I do go in there. There isn't much in the way of record stores where I live. I wish I still lived in Berkeley. Amoeba and Rasputin ftw.

Sweetness. I love(d) System of a Down (no, I'm not some crazy metal head, I just like a wide variety of music). I'm also a fan of Paramore so that's nice to see.

I'm not sure who Black Tide is or what Shockwave sounds like, but I'll be finding out sooner than later. All in all, thanks for a nice release Harmonix/EA/MTV/everyone else involved.
