What a friggin' waste. PlayStation could have easily become the karaoke machine of the future, but they squandered it on pressing discs, and selling packed-in mics. Now they lost Phil, whom I think followed up the idea in the first place, and now rumored to follow the same broken path. Seriously, release a "starter pack" with two mics and $20 for downloadable content, and stock your friggin' store.

That's a freebie, Sony. Make it happen.

I want the PS2 songs there! Can you even swap disks between the PS3 and PS2 versions (doubtful) or for those like me, with the cheapass 40Gb version. The PS2 ones had some great songs (Creep dammit)

It is funny that SingStar keeps getting slammed for rehashing the PS2 catalog when Sony said 2 years ago that the '300 songs' where going to be EXACTLY THAT.

So..are they behind on songs? Yep. Are the songs they are bringing to the table anything other than what was promised. Nope.

As for a second disc Vol 2 I would assume that you are going to get a price discount for buying the package rather than the price of each song added up.

Singstar goes a little beyond karaoke, as it has a scoring system and a way of letting you know how much you suck (in my case, lots).

I hope this isn't the same stuff that's on Singstore. I also hope they add more content to Singstore and do something about the abysmal performance.

They haven't even released the original Singstar for PS3 yet in America. Or have they? Until Rock Band came around, I was considering getting Singstar. Don't care for it at all now.

I think theres a place for disc based expansion. When they already released them through DLC, releasing a dic works, because it gets it to people who can't or don't want to download.

That said, to me this sounds more like a collection of the DLC songs in the SingStar shell with no other changes. Not that thats bad.

I'd be fine if a Rock Band disc with the DLC on it came out. For those without the DLC, they'd want it. The people who don't download game content are the same ones who don't mind switching discs for a new song setlist.
