As much as I like the Musou series, I'm rather surprised it beat out SSBB. I mean, considering all the hype and everything, SSBB should have beat it out by a mile or something. On the other hand, I guess it is the first week for the Gundam Musou... And I guess not everyone has a PS3 in Japan yet... (as we all know Xbox360 doesn't sell all that well there...)

@Witzbold: Namco Bandai's VP said they shipped 80k units though, so depending on the accuracy of MediaCreate and Famitsu's sales numbers, they may be holding dead stock for a while. Assuming they still don't count Amazon and other online sales numbers you can add at least 3000~6000 units -- niconico's Amazon affiliate sales alone recorded 3200 units.

I can't believe the staying power of the PS2, holy. Two years into the seventh generation for home consoles of the system still can top the charts. I wouldn't be surprise to see PS2 still selling well into 2009.

And LOL@Idolm@ster, I guess every 360 owner in Japan went out to buy that gem of a game. =)

@Prophane33: I enjoyed the demo, but I question how long that sort of repetition would be fun for, since I haven't played a game in this series since DW3. And I didn't even finish that one once, as opposed to DW2 which I played to death. At $60, it's a little hard to swallow. And now it's even harder to swallow considering that they ported it to PS2 and apparently ADDED content to the game.

Wonder how long it'll be til the 360 and PS3 versions pop back into stores with that content added back in.

Gundam Musou was actually pretty disappointing. I'm not surprised this newest one (which really didn't add much, and is on PS2) sold well though. Dynasty Warriors 6 on the other hand is freaking great. Definitely makes up for the disappointment that I had with Gundam Musou. Which while not the worst Koei game was surely not up to par with the rest of the musou series.

You know what I find most interesting about the chart? I don't think Smash Brothers will be able to sell more than Wii Fit in Japan ... SSBB sales are cooling much faster than Wii Fit's.

On a side note, I almost want to import that Harvest Moon game. I've always loved the series and its a perfect handheld game. I wonder how import friendly it would be?
